Games you wish to play with Oculus Rift

Maybe just me but nothing. No games because I don't like the technology. I like my games as is. Using peripherals to enhance my entertainment is a pain in the arse.

Films? Wear stupid specs. Games? Headset and fuck knows what else. It isn't for me. I like to be able to move around/go for a piss/nip out for a smoke/grab a bite to eat all without having to unplug and undress just to do any of those things.

I understand the appeal it's just I think games should feel like games. Not like I have to act them in real life.
But I'm probably set in my ways.

NFS Shift 2 (because I rather enjoy it as a racing game, and it already supports turning your head to look sideways.)

And for the last one I'd like an RTS, like RUSE or Sins of A Solar Empire, just to see how they go.

I am the complete opposite.

Any kind of fancy controller or peripheral for a game and I am all over it and have been for years.

Anything that increases immersion or gives me more to do and I love it.

Light guns, Joysticks, Throttles, Pedals, 3D, gimme gimme gimme. I like toys and games are just elaborate toys.

Of course I owned Steel Battalions and will be buying the custom controller for Mechwarrior Online.

And since tons of devs have gone gaga for 'Rift I myself am going to be all over it like a hot rash.

It might be mostly suited to first person shooters, but either way it feels a little bit like the future.

And I would like to add in TRON 2.0 to the list of games I'd like to use 'Rift with. And the DCS sims.

1. Mirror's Edge (actually played this quite a bit in Stereo 3D on a 3DTV with iZ3D, and it's pretty great)
2. Shattered Horizon (This would probably be amazing)
3. Tron 2.0 (good call, Juan)
4. Independence War 2: Edge of Chaos (if they could tweak it so your head could move independently in the cockpit)
5. The Void

One thing that I worry about with the Oculus Rift is surround sound. If you've got an external surround speaker setup, there'd have to be some way to uncouple directional sounds from the player's facing. Otherwise you'd turn your head to the left, and the view would swing to the left, but now (in a 7.1 setup) you're facing towards the rear left speaker, so you'll hear sounds that are originating from your left as being right in front of you.

It looks like a lot of fun, but I kind of agree with whoever it was that said that it might be a bit of a pain to wear and use. I don't really want to hook myself into my PC all that often. That HL2 demo with the gun accessory looked great though. Thing is I don't know how well it'd go with FPS games - trying to play it might be a bit disorienting without whatever that HL2 video was using.

2. Various racing sims (though not being able to see your wheel would be a bit weird I think)
3. Borderlands 2, just because that's all I seem to actually play these days that isn't either 1 or 2
4. Receiver, but only if a Wiimote or similar could be used to control the gun (like that Half Life 2 thing, except I get the feeling Receiver could be made to work really, really well with it so that the gun is a separate 6DoF entity, meaning you have to aim straight and not just point the crosshairs at something, so you could even shoot yourself in the head if you wanted)
5. Fallout: New Vegas.


Personally I think the Rift will have to integrate with other motion controllers to be properly amazing. That video of the Half Life 2 mod really blew me away, it has to be said.
