Hey folks. So! I played a bit this weekend, great fun. You're all lovely.
Hope to get online again soon and trounce some more bad guys.

Oh! About me? Ok. I'm a 24 year old London dweller, gainfully employed in biological research. I enjoy long walks on the beach and getting my ESF stuck on trees.

A Scot giving beer advice? What is this? Should I ask a Belgian for whisky advice? I'm looking for a new bottle of Scotch.

I've had Laphroaig (an Islay whisky) and it is amazing.

Be warned, Laphroaig is extremely peaty, almost smokey (although it is lovely). I think Talisker is another nice peaty island malt with a bit less of an edge, if you want to be cautious.

If peatyness doesn't appeal at all I can recommend the 10yr old Bushmills I was drinking at christmas (not exactly what you were asking for though - it's irish).

I got a bottle of that for my last birthday and I thought it smelled like Lysol. Was not a fan. My brother swears by it, but I can't get the hang of it. Any other recommendations? I like Glenfiddich and Ballantine's.

Bushmills 10 or just the white label is great if you like sweet, I got legendarily drunk on it at uni a few times but Ardmore which is a highland peaty one (I think most of it goes to blend but the malt is really nice itself), and Ardbeg 10 (heading for the Frog) top my list. The new Ardbeg 10 is fine stuff. The old is really expensive!
The Balvenie Doublewood is nice too Port finish (I think), my flatemates loved it.
I hate the Talisker 10, too salty(?) for me, but the 18 is to die for.

Note to any new members - not all of our regulars are alchoholics.

Some of them are just Scottish.

It's not alcoholism - it's appreciation for fine beverages!
