On second consideration, the whole "caucasian human" spirit animal is a rather compelling concept, so long as we assume that spirit animals are specific representatives of their animal-kind, and as such Berzee's spirit animal is actually a chap named Eddie who happens to live just down the road.
He tends to hang out at the pub mumbling to himself, but while everybody else just takes his musings to be gibberish, should Berzee locate this particular pub and glean his words, he would soon find that they're all deeply insightful assessments of his current situation as well as pertinent advice for his future.
Likewise, while a lump of clay is rarely insightful due to being particularly unable to communicate, should Protoman stare at this particular square while under the effects of LSD...
