Chapter 5 of the Savage Worlds core book should have the info you need.
Arcane Background (Magic)
Arcane Skill:Spellcasting (Smarts)
Starting Power Points: 10
Magicians range from powerful wizards to vile cultists. They
draw on raw supernatural energy to fuel their eldritch fires.
This energy often infuses the worlds in which they live, and
is drawn forth with elaborate rituals, words of power, runes,
or perhaps even dark sacrifices.
Wizards are often quite weak early in their careers, but are
forces to be reckoned with as they become powerful sorcerers.
►Backlash: When a wizard rolls a 1 on his Spellcasting die
(regardless of his Wild Die), he is automatically Shaken. This
can cause a wound.
Playing a Huckster
Playing a hexslinger works just like the
Arcane Background (Magic) Edge described
in Savage Worlds, except that hucksters’ Power
Points recharge at a much slower rate than
other arcane types—1 point every three hours!
The Rapid Recharge Edge reduces this to 1
point every two hours, and the improved ver-
sion to 1 point an hour.
If a Huckster wants to play it safe, he can
cast hexes as usual and use his precious Power
Points up in the normal way. If he’s in a gam-
bling mood, however, he can risk everything
for more power. Interested?
Let's assume you have smarts at d8. You get spellcasting at d4 for a point, and spend a point to increase it to d6 and another to increase it to d8. Any further and you'd need 2 points per dice.

I'ma roll up a Chinese gunslinger for Egg.
Tell you what, folks, I'll give you another $100 if you come up with a backstory for your character (and a reason he or she turned up to a tiny village in the middle of nowhere).

Ta, don't know how I missed that Smarts in little brackets there.

What I found is PW sent me a download link for the DB stuff, and not the usual share-a-Dropbox-folder thing.
Question (sorry) - we are using the Guts skill, right? And it is a Spirit skill? The Savage book's kind of vague on this but the Deadlands book uses it.

I found a fillable character sheet that I've put on Dropbox alongside my half finished character, Micky Kannavagh.
The weight limits are a little odd, my clothes take up half my carrying capacity....

I think your character's got too many skill points - it's 15 points total, with 1 to buy a skill at d4, 1 to increase it up to your stat level, and 2 to increase it past there. Either that or I shortchanged Egg when I made his character.
Don't worry about the encumbrance rules, we're ignoring them unless you try to carry something ridiculous.
In general, you shouldn’t worry about Encumbrance.
Characters will usually carry no more than their characters
think they actually need. But occasionally it may become
dramatically important—such as during a chase or when
attempting to lug a heavy treasure away from a roaring dragon!
When that occurs, use the guidelines below.
A character can carry five times his Strength die type in
pounds without incurring any penalties. This is called his
“Load Limit.” A character with a Strength of d8, for example,
can comfortably carry 40 pounds. (Ignore normal clothes
when figuring weight.)

Its 1 point per skill advance up to the stat level and 2 points over the stat level. If you have agility d8 for example it would cost you 2 points to get shooting to d8 (1 for d6 and 1 for d8) and a further 2 points to get shooting to d10). At least that's how I read it.

You need to spend a point to get the skill in the first place at d4 though.
The deadlands dropbox I invited everyone too has two folders, one called characters and one called reference books. In the top layer of the folder there's also a fillable character sheet called "character sheet".
If you're looking in the Radiance folder because I couldn't get dropbox to work properly, then you'll only have the reference books.
I can't send you any more PMs but if you want to pop onto steam we can chat through the character creation stuff.

You have to buy the d4 step too. We'd take d4 in every skill in the game if it was free, and there are rules for untrained skills :)
How are you going to represent the Fate Chip bag in Roll20, PW?
I've been writing my character in Word, will transfer it to a proper sheet tomorrow.

Seems like some people still can't see the DEADLANDS folder so I am gathering everything together in the Radiance one, which I probably should have done in the first place.
\Dropbox\Radiance\Deadlands Reference Books
There's a folder for characters, including a sub folder for your backstory if you want the extra $100 and a folder for extended inventory if you cant fit everything on the sheet.

Bio and sheet is up, let me know if I have done anything wrong!

p85 and 86 of Savage Worlds have the rules for fear and fatigue. The difference between Deadlands and vanilla Savage Worlds is that Deadlands uses the Guts stat rather than making Spirit checks for fear.
rules for fighting are on page 72 and thereabouts - some very familiar concepts here, like firing into melee, using all your actions to go "full defence", getting bonuses for ganging up on someone.
