Slow Boat: Age Of Mythology – Tale Of The Dragon

Not content with creating a new expansion for Age of Empires 2 HD, developers Forgotten Empires have announced that they’ll be releasing Tale of the Dragon, a Chinese mythology-themed expansion for the Extended Edition of Age of Mythology [official site]. Thirteen years since the original release and twelve years since the previous expansion, Titans, this announcement marks a New Age of Mythology, although presumably with fewer crystals and astrological cycles.

Impressions – Age Of Mythology: Extended Edition

RTS/citybuilderish Age of Mythology: Extended Edition is a tweaked, slightly modernised re-release of the dearly-departed Ensemble’s myths & legends spin-off from Age of Empires.

A mild graphical overhaul, Steam-powered multiplayer & mod support and Twitch integration headline the changes, but really it’s about reintroducing something that has withstood at least some of time’s many tests into a market that might just be crying out for it. So, how does it hold up?

By Zeus’ Beard! Age Of Mythology Revamp Coming In May


And yea, they did speak of times past when the Earth was more innocent. Gods and monsters moved among us, entire pantheons warred, and we were pleased. Yet today’s impetuous youth sneer “Yeah but it doesn’t even have ambient occlusion does it?” All right clever clogs, look here: following a little tease earlier this year, Microsoft has revealed the revamped Age of Mythology Extended Edition for release in early May.

Beyond obviously making Ensemble’s 2002 RTS play nicely with modern operating systems and monitors, it’s a bit shinied up with improved graphics and Steam gubbins.
