Alternatingly Current – Tex Murphy: Tesla Effect

By John Walker on February 27th, 2014.

Tex Murphy: Tesla Effect was Kickstarted in June two years ago, and supposed to be released in December 2012. That was always a touch hopeful. However, come December 2013 there was still no indication of a release date, and since then there’s been an ominous quiet. Fortunately that quiet is broken, with Tex “Chris Jones” Murphy releasing a new video to explain the gap. The game, he says, is now the length of two full Tex Murphy adventures.

Tex Murphy: Tesla Effect Gets A Whopping Great Trailer

By John Walker on September 10th, 2013.

There’s at last an actual official trailer for the new Tex Murphy game, Tesla Effect. It’s lots and lots and lots of FMV hammy acting, which is EXACTLY RIGHT. Hammier than a four hundred mile high pig that’s exploded over a city. Perfect.

And as Jones reveals, his team are putting in quarter of a million of their own money too. We talk about bringing Tex back, updating the genre for a modern audience, and why Jones believes FMV characters can connect to players in a way CG ones never can.

Three Cards To Midnight

By John Walker on September 11th, 2008.

A front room, yesterday.

Here’s some news that should enhappy a decent number of people, and just confuse the rest. The two-man driving force behind the Tex Murphy games – Chris Jones and Aaron Conners – have reunited, and are revealing details of their first story-driven game to be released by their new studio, Big Finish Games.

IGN has a nice piece, interviewing the pair, and discussing their recently announced game, Three Cards To Midnight.
