Look, you can’t name your company Overkill Software then do things meekly. Your games need to shoot thousands of men, steal millions of dollars, and roll out patches in big ostentatious displays. To celebrate co-op heist ‘em up series Payday’s third birthday, over twelve days Overkill have added to Payday 2 everything from new weapons and snazzy sunglasses to a grand new mission and a playable cheap Keanu Reeves lookalike, all for free. They called it Crimefest.

Birthdays And Holidays: GOG And Humble Sales

It’s been a long game-summer. We’ve met loads of new games and formed new game-friendships that’ll surely last forever–I’ll call every weekend–but now it’s time to settle down for a long game-autumn, foraging for game-nuts to stash. Rather than be down about this, GOG and the Humble Store are seeing summer off with big sales. GOG are celebrating their sixth birthday, while Humble just want to party. Cram their game-berries into your cheeks and bury them to play over game-winter.

Everquest Turns Nine

The MMO that spawned so many imitators has now been running for nine years. To celebrate, the EQ dev blog have produced a gigantic super-detailed timeline, recording all the major events of the game over that not-quite-decade. You can see the entire graphic here. Massively.com conducted a big old interview with EQ’s player-turned-lead designer, Travis McGeathy, to celebrate the anniversary.
