Blood Bowl II Wants To Show You Its Grass

By Alec Meer on November 21st, 2013.

Its crowds and players and logo-adorned ball too, but mostly grass. Thick, lustrous, individually-bladed grass, with shadows and everything. It’s like kicking a ball – and some heads – in a Crysis game. Whether these are screenshots or bullshots remains to be seen, but they’ve done the intended job of making me goo “ooh! That looks lovely, in a spiky-shouldered, maiming-heavy sort of way!”

Blood For The Blood God Bowl!

By Jim Rossignol on May 4th, 2012.

There’s a new Blood Bowl edition in the works, Chaos Edition, which updates the game with three new races and a new stadium. To expand the team roster there are, appropriately enough, Chaos Dwarves, Daemons of Khorne, and the handsome Underworld teams. The Khorne team will be able to field a Bloodthirster, which seems a bit like an unfair play to me, but then it is Blood Bowl The new stadium is in the heart of a jungle, and you can see it pictured here. Sadly Cyanide have neglected to mention how the compatibility between this new edition of the game and older editions will work, but as I understand it there’s a good deal of incompatibility between older editions, so…

It’s out in September.

Hey You, Play Games With RPS Readers!

By Jim Rossignol on April 26th, 2012.

The RPS community, yesterday.
Yes, they’re all at it. There’s a whole bunch of them playing Tribes Ascend, and they even have their own server. The same is true of the Arma corps, who get up to regular shenanigans, which now even includes shooting zombies. Then there’s the surprisingly popular Mass Effect 3 shootery, which is taking place over here. If you prefer things a little more persistent then the Eve and Perpetuum corps are both recruiting, while the unstoppable Blood Bowl league persists in quite a different way. Long may it continue. Finally, it’s worth pointing a wizened finger at the Wargame: European Escalation gang, because that game is certainly worthy of your attention. There’s plenty more, of course, over here

There’s Blood In My: Dungeonbowl

By Jim Rossignol on April 11th, 2012.

Er, are you sure this is the place?
Fresh from their reworking of fantasy tabletopper Confrontation, Cyanide have announced they are working on Dungeonbowl - a fantasy sports game – which is the version of Blood Bowl set inside a shoe dungeon. The screenshot above looks remarkably like a place I visited in Second Life, but we have assurances that the game is based firmly on the Games Workshop original. Quoth Cyanide: “Dungeonbowl continues Cyanide’s successful collaboration with Games Workshop and their rich and varied Blood Bowl world. The gameplay should therefore delight existing Blood Bowl fans as well as offer a gateway to this zany parody of Warhammer and American Football for fans of tactical sports gaming.”

Zany. There’s a word. Dungeonbowl will reportedly arrive in the middle of 2012.

The RPS Blood Bowl Cup Could Be Yours!

By Quintin Smith on May 5th, 2011.

If I had an elf team I would tell my opponents they're about to get sh'elved.

Did you know that Rock, Paper, Shotgun has an active Blood Bowl community? It does! Our forumites, they can’t get enough of that turn-based sport, or the match reports, the injuries, everything hanging on a single simulated dice roll, all that good stuff.

If you own Blood Bowl: Legendary Edition and want to get involved with our most friendly of gaming communities, now’s the time. A new knock-out league entitled the RPS Cup (the cup itself is strictly imaginary) is starting up, and you can find all the details and the sign-up Googledocs spreadsheet here. The organiser, Daave, is hoping for a whopping 64 competitors, so you can bet you’ll be welcome, and if you own the original Blood Bowl the Legendary Edition can now be found for a paltry £9. Kieron got involved in one of these tournaments two years ago and his diary still makes for great reading, so what are you waiting for? Go play!

Legendary 30% Off For Previously Bowlers

By Kieron Gillen on September 16th, 2010.

I still like the Vampire in shades.

After the eyebrow-raising price the original game came out at, I was expecting to be asked to pay full whack for the Blood Bowl Legendary Edition. Mr Dixon tells me that Cyanide have announced that anyone who owns a previous edition of Blood Bowl will get 30% off the new version. You just enter your code into the shop, which will be up in October. Better, they say the game’s price will be about $40 – which, if true and applied universally, is a better deal than the original. Those who picked up the game for four quid in last weekend’s Steam sale will be pleased, I suspect. Unless they hate it.

I Want My Mummy: Blood Bowl Khemri

By Kieron Gillen on August 31st, 2010.

Taxi!

If I said that today Cyanide reveal the Blood Bowl Khemri, would you be excited? If you don’t know the Khemri are, no, you wouldn’t. They’re Egyptian skeletons and mummies and shit! Them, playing a hyper-violent American-Football-esque game? That’s probably worth money, and that’s exactly what they’re up to in the forthcoming Blood Bowl: Legendary edition. You can go and see their screenshots here. Regular readers may wonder why we regularly post links to just screenshots of Blood Bowl when we don’t do it for anyone else. Well, because Cyanide do awesome screenshots, frankly. TRY HARDER, DEVS. Also, we’re foolishly enamoured with Blood Bowl, obv. I also notice the Amazons have been unveiled since the last time we posted about the Legendary edition. It’s probably lucky we didn’t post about them, as we’d have to go on another one of our BOOB CRITICISM rampages, probably saying something about how historically Amazons had one boob except the Amazons didn’t exist and the evidence on their one-boobosity is conflicted anyway so that’s that sketch knackered then. Er… Blood Bowl: Legendary Edition will be released before Chrimble.

Blood Bowl: Legendary Edition Update

By Quintin Smith on July 22nd, 2010.

'Pro Elf' has got me wondering about Prince Tyrion's Pro Elf, in the style of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater.

The word’s out on two of the twelve new teams featuring in Blood Bowl: Legendary Edition, which arrives at the end of this year. The word, and also screenshots. The Pro Elves aren’t to be confused with the game’s existing Wood Elves, because they’re tougher than Wood Elves and as such would probably beat you up. The second team, the Ogres, offer unmatched brutality at the expense of their team roster being made up by Snotlings. Full press release after the jump.
