We’re all about the regular features on RPS. Except when we’re three men down and the one who can post is busy swanning around with racing drivers instead. So, with apologies to them and to you for not getting this up on Friday, here belatedly is our weekly round-up of splendid postery from the mellifluous Boing Boing Gadgets – it’s like Boing Boing, but about gadgets. In other words, very much what RPS would do if we were like RPS, but about gadgets.

Without warning, It sounded a BOING. The room fell first into a terrified silence, then into pandemonium. The Duchess had fainted outright from the shock of that unearthly tone – so, as one, every gentleman in the room rushed frantically to her assistance. Smelling salts were administered, and the pale woman carefully carried to a chaise-long. As her heavy eyelids flickered open, she realised in an instant that no other in the room was still observing It. This left It entirely free to – no! The Duchess started upwards in fright, but her head was yet too light. She slumped to the floor again, the warning unuttered. Too late now, she reached out a trembling hand towards It, hoping, somehow, to prevent what she now knew was inevitable. BOING.

Their eyes met across a crowded internet. He was a tall, dark, chiseled PC gaming site. She was a long-legged, auburn-haired gadget site. The attraction was immediate, a frisson of electricity palpable in the air. People turned, stopping their conversations to watch as the two websites made their way toward one another. They were magnificent, meant to be. The hush gave way to murmurs of tense excitement, everyone aware they were witnessing something extraordinary. A foot from one another the two websites stopped, their eyes locked. The room froze. They embraced.

One of the peculiar things about running a website with a fairly large readership is that you begin to get to know lots of other blogfolk. We now count the staff of many of the blogs you lot read on a daily basis as friends of RPS, and in the spirit of that online chummery we’re going to start linking to one of them. Boing Boing Gadgets, with whom we’ve struck up a healthy, manly relationship, are going to be swapping some headlines with us. We’re going to pick the stuff we think has been cool on BBG, and link it here and vice versa. It’s not going to be all about PC gaming, but we hope its stuff that some of you guys will still find interesting. Likewise the BB crowd will be getting pointed in the direction of our busy little PC gaming ghetto and introduced to the opinionated melange that is Rock, Paper, Shotgun.
