Call of Duty: World At War, the fifth game in the CoD series, is now in multiplayer beta mode. The series has gone back to WWII for this instalment, developed by Treyarch (who take care of the odd numbered games, Infinity Ward doing the evens).
The game’s been betaing on the 360 for a couple of weeks, and now finally the PC version is ready to roll. You can get the 850mb of code here or here, but to be able to take part you’ll need to create an official account here.

This is turning into a link-to-stuff-we’ve done day, I know. Apologies, but the last minute organisation (i.e. All the organisation) for this evening’s Thinkosium is devouring the day. Still – here’s the freshly published piece I wrote for Eurogamer where I interviewed Producer Noah Heller and wrote a little about my impressions. Since I wrote it, the Zombie game mode has been confirmed with footage on the Gametrailers show. However, as is the wont of internet tykes, someone’s ripped out the section of the show and stuck it on youtube. And it’s that I’m linking to beneath the cut.

A new trailer for World At War has arrived, and it’s brief but ever-so-explody. This latest transmission from developers Treyarch shows off the flamethrowers, the bombs, the tanks, and the destructible scenery. And there’s quite a lot of all of those things. It’s all in-engine, but only a teensy bit appears to be “in-game”, if you see what I mean. Mmm, perhaps we shouldn’t start the day’s posting with explosions, it can only be downhill from there.

The next Call Of Duty game, World At War, is all co-operative. This means that you can play along with your friends and relatives and never be alone again. To illustrate its chummy nature there is now a trailer, which shows two folks doing war in the Pacific theatre. It looks pretty good, with excellent jungle and some splendid bazooka action.
