Cargasm’s Tech Is The Interesting Bit

By John Walker on August 16th, 2011.

rrrrrrrRRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I really cannot fathom what’s going on with Cargasm. As we’ve said many times, the way it’s being promoted is foul, with awful allusions toward gathering some sort of harem of scantily clad women and so forth. And we’ve also pointed out that its claims of “photo-realistic graphics” for its iOS version are, well, nonsense. But the biggest issue of all is despite some really impressive-looking screenshots, we’ve still yet to see the game actually show any driving. And that continues in the latest video, with yet more of what I’m pretty certain is an awkward, juddery fly-through in the level creator rather than actual in-game footage, which is clearly trying to look like a driver’s view. However, I don’t post it for Cargasm at all, really. Rather for the extremely interesting tech that’s discussed coming from Near Global. It’s well worth a look.

Impotent: New Cargasm Footage

By John Walker on July 11th, 2011.

Imagine if it looked like this.

It’s hard to fathom Candella Software’s Cargasm. The game so creepily boasts that “players will be constantly exhorted to go faster by a bevy of Cargasm Girls,” and, “if they are fast enough, players can collect these ravishing maidens for their own personal Cargasm Harem.” Then it makes claims of “meticulously recreated photorealistic real-world locations”. But everything released so far shows neither. We’ve seen not a moving car, and perhaps thankfully, none of these collectable women. Today there’s a new trailer for the game, which is said to show off its real world locations. And you can see it below.

Cargasm Is Actually A Thing

By John Walker on March 30th, 2011.

It's like London ON YOUR SCREEEN.

We all react differently the first time we learn there’s a game called Cargasm. Jim’s reaction last August was to demand that Twitter come up with other ‘gasm names. Mine was to go into denial until there was video evidence. There is now video evidence.

Further Use Of ‘Gasm: Cargasm

By Jim Rossignol on August 9th, 2010.

Candella Software send word that they are developing a new racing game, Cargasm. A flavour of the announcement: “During races, players will be constantly exhorted to go faster by a bevy of Cargasm Girls. If they are fast enough, players can collect these ravishing maidens for their own personal Cargasm Harem.” It also boasts a photorealistic central London to race around. That’s going to make someone’s day, I hope.

Anyway, the “gasm” suffix has, of course, found a home in games before, with Wargasm, and probably others I can’t bring to mind. Inspired to push the idea further, I asked my Twitter followers what other ways the ‘gasm suffix could find its way into the gaming lexicon. The results, such as they are, are below.
