Choplifter HD Next Week, Steve & Duke

By Jim Rossignol on January 7th, 2012.

IneXile’s Choplifter HD was supposed to have turned up in the Autumn of last year, but rather dropped off the radar. Now though they send word that the game will appear on 10th of January for digital download. They explain: “In Choplifter HD, players take control of a variety of helicopters armed with a number of offensive capabilities so they can swoop in and make daring rescues in hot zones. The game features more than 30 missions ranging from straight prisoner extraction to dropping off saboteurs that blow buildings sky high to saving survivors from viral outbreaks. Pilots must bank, hover, touchdown, and sometimes even shake loose pesky zombies hanging from their choppers.” You can also attempt to rescue characters like Duke Nukem and Steve from Minecraft, as you can see in the two bizarre “cameo” videos which I’ve posted below.

Pork Chop: Super Meat Boy In Choplifter HD

By Quintin Smith on June 2nd, 2011.

Fancy meating you here.

In one of the odder cameos of recent memory, developers inExile have confirmed that Meat Boy (of Super Meat Boy) will be appearing in Choplifter HD, their upcoming “reimagining” of 1982 title Choplifter. Why? Well, why not? But wait, there’s more! The new trailer you’ll find after the jump shows that Choplifter HD will also boast zombies that’ll eat VIPs and cling to your helicopter. That’s innovation, right there.

Way Of The Helicopter: Choplifter HD

By Jim Rossignol on March 29th, 2011.

I've never tried to steal anything with a helicopter, but now I might: THE EVIL POWER OF VIDEOGAMES REVEALED.
Choplifter was a side-scrolling shooter that features a helicopter. HD (pronounced “ccchhhuud”) is the modern remake of it. The helicopter can go up and down, and side to side, and shoot. It’s just like it was in the old days, only a bit prettier. You can see the truth of that statement in the trailer below. It’s even being developed by inXile Entertainment, whose Big Boy project is Hunted: The Demon’s Forge. However, it’s my contention that such a direct pun (“Choplifter”) is actually categorically wasted here. This should have been a game about stealing candy from a store using a remote-control helicopter, while the enraged store owner chases your miscreant contraption about with a baseball bat. That is my firm belief, and I will not move from it.

The game is out in the Autumn.
