Long Title: Codename: Panzers – Cold War MP Demo

By Kieron Gillen on March 5th, 2009.

I admit, I can’t actually differentiate this and Men of War in my head. I’m going to try. This is the one which Jim doesn’t keep on ranting for me to try. I think. Anyway, the Single-player demo has been out for a bit. Now there’s a sister Multiplayer Demo, which is a mere half-gig in size. Half what the SP one was! The reason for this is classified. I know, but can’t tell you. I’m sorry. Oh – and here’s a new trailer explaining the “WHAT IF!”s which drive this alternate timeline post-WW2 war. Which, as many have noted, doesn’t look particularly like a cold war to us. You can tell by the explodeage.

Like Angry Houses: Panzers – Cold War

By Kieron Gillen on February 11th, 2009.

This is a spooky coincidence. I was just about to start writing this when my girlfriend passed me the post. I open a jiffy bag and – strike a light! – it’s got some review code of Codename Panzers: Cold War. Shall I play it? No, I won’t. Because my Gaming PC is still kaputt. So I equally won’t be able to give some impressions on the just released still-fashionable-just-under 1-gig demo for demo for the selfsame game. Instead, I’ll play the video whilst leaning close to my laptop monitor whilst making brrrrmmmm! and dakkadakkadakka noises. Join me!

Codename Panzers – Cold War

By Jim Rossignol on December 3rd, 2008.

One of the titles mentioned at yesterday’s Atari Live event in London was Codename Panzers – Cold War, which is due next February. The concept for this latest instance of the tricky tank game that war continues after 1949, with NATO and the Soviet army doing fighty over the ruins of Europe across the following “cold war” years. It moves forward across the intervening decades, covering the period of general hostility between communists and capitalists, and the battles that might have happened were the big blocs to make war. This apparently includes “the pinnacle of Cold War era conventional warfare including realistic battles between heavy tanks like the American M103 and the Russian T-10.”

The following trailers, narrated by associate producer Raphael Boyon, doesn’t give us quite enough close up action to see what’s going on, but rest assured it’s some hardcore RTS action. Oh baby.
