Spotlight On Biscuit – Jamestown

By Quintin Smith on June 20th, 2011.

If this is bullet hell, is there a bullet heaven?

I was cheering excitedly about beautiful indie shmup Jamestown last week, and the title’s tagline of “Mars is waiting! Bring your friends!” must be the finest piece of video game marketing of the last ten years.

But a philosopher once said that a video speaks a thousand words, so here’s games commenter Total Biscuit talking you through the game in an even more agitable manner than usual. I’m serious- if you watch up to him reaching the first boss you will hear the actual sound of a man having a nervous breakdown.

Total Biscuit – Hamilton’s Great Adventure

By Quintin Smith on June 5th, 2011.

Ruined.

WTF is Hamilton’s Great Adventure? I couldn’t tell you, but bubbly UK games commenter Total Biscuit can and he’s waiting for you just after the jump in this week’s Spotlight On Biscuit. Also, I finally giving in to a veritable mosh pit of popular demand and post a few thoughts on the Custard Cream.

Spotlight On Biscuit – Frozen Synapse

By Quintin Smith on May 28th, 2011.

You know the RPS idea of the 'Guns and Conversation' genre? This is Guns and Consternation.

I think the singular of synapse should be synap. What do you think? Ah, Saturday is no kind of day to be worrying about those things. This week’s Spotlight On Biscuit sees PC gaming celebutante Total Biscuit talking us through indie tactics sensation Frozen Synapse. It’s been released, you know! 55 mission single player campaign, comprehensive multiplayer, the whole bit. Meanwhile, I’ve been thinking (and eating) my favourite biscuit of all time. What could it be?

Spotlight On Biscuit – S.P.A.Z.

By Quintin Smith on May 21st, 2011.

Jim wrote a musical titled 'Laser! Laser!' back in the day. He doesn't like to talk about it.

This week’s Spotlight on Biscuit sees UK games commenter Total Biscuit asking WTF is Space Pirates and Zombies, a commendably eccentric top-down action RPG in space type thing. If what you see takes your fancy, you can pick up a demo of S.P.A.Z. or pre-order for beta access over on the game’s official site. Speaking of fancies, when was the last time any of you lot had a French Fancy?

Spotlight On Biscuit – Age Of Empires Online

By Quintin Smith on May 14th, 2011.

It's all Greek to m*bang*

In this week’s Spotlight on Biscuit, inimitable UK games commenter Total Biscuit (inimitable unless you have a thick British accent and a pot of coffee that’s more sugar than liquid, anyway) has taken a closer look at Age of Empires Online. A wise choice, seeing as it’s a curious game that’s better seen in motion than read about. Also, I put a rare biscuit to the test- the Boland’s Jam Mallow.

Spotlight On Biscuit- Crysis 2 Impressions

By Quintin Smith on April 4th, 2011.

Later, the military tribunal would not look kindly on Sgt. Havok's excuse that the Renault Megane meant him harm

It’s a top quality Spotlight on Biscuit we’ve got for you this week. Not only do we have Total Biscuit giving his hugely positive impressions on Crysis 2 single player in a video he’s dubbed “How Being Allowed to Fail is Awesome”, a sentiment very close to the hearts of most everyone here at RPS, but I do some thinking about the mighty Party Ring. Just why is it so popular?

Spotlight On Biscuit – Homefront Multiplayer

By Quintin Smith on March 28th, 2011.

Bourbon is an anagram of Boob Urn, just fyi

Another week, another Spotlight On Biscuit, wherein we direct you to one of prodigious gaming commenter Total Biscuit’s videos for the week, and also discuss a biscuit. This week, it’s Homefront Multiplayer and the humble Bourbon biscuit.

I wouldn’t say I’m starting to regret this idea just yet, but I have realised that there are more weeks in the year than biscuits that I could name. Hm.

Spotlight On Biscuit- Section 8: Prejudice

By Quintin Smith on March 21st, 2011.

Have you noticed that the alt-text on every photoshopped image is us complaining about how long it took us?

As nice as it would be to say that Rock, Paper, Shotgun is the only source of cynical, British, top-quality PC gaming journalism on the internet, we cannot, as that would involve ignoring internet phenomenon (and regular RPS commenter) Cynical Brit (aka Total Biscuit). His videos and shoutcasts routinely reach an audience of hundreds of thousands, the bastard. What to do about this? After months of plotting we calculated that bringing about his death would be unfeasibly expensive, and so we have organised a tentative alliance.

Today we present to you the first Spotlight On Biscuit, a weekly feature in which we’ll highlight the best of Total Biscuit’s videos for that week, and also spotlight an actual biscuit, just to make sure nobody reads the headline and goes home disappointed. Today we’ve got TB explaining “WTF Is…” Section 8: Prejudice, and a look at that firm favourite, the Ginger Crunch Cream.

The Witcher 2 Covers Up

By Alec Meer on September 13th, 2010.

Naughty.

So, the chaps at Cynical Brit brought up some of the concerns around the depiction of a female torture victim in The Witcher 2 directly to CD Projekt Red, which led to a surprising revelation. Based on various comments about said torture victim arguably being presented somewhat… lustily, the developers are having a bit of a rethink about that scene.

They don’t want people to be thinking sexy thoughts when presented with a tortured woman, basically – so they’re going to alter how the character in question is presented.
