Don’t Desert The Bus

By Alec Meer on November 19th, 2010.

Apparently we’re “always a little late to the party” about Desert Bus For Hope, the charity play-a-thon of Penn & Teller’s notoriously and horrifically cruel/tedious driving sim. Sniff. Well, let’s get it right this time. It kicks off in about nine hours, and the current plan is for five drivers to do a 24 hour shift each. Previously, shifts were four hours. So it’s safe to say it’s going to hurt this time around. Reeeeeeally hurt.

The Wheels On The Bus Go Round and Round and Round and Round and Round and Round

By Kieron Gillen on November 24th, 2009.

I like re-using this grab. I do a lot of posting about charity, but I don't like to talk about it.

RPS despise Children. Yet – as aficionados of PC games with terrain – we love boredom. So we’re a little conflicted on whether or not to link to the third yearly Desert Bus for Hope, which has been bumping along for over three days now. As with every year, the idea is endurance playing of one of the most famously tedious games of all time. The first year made nearly $23K. The second just over $70K. This year is at $50K already, and lets hope it, because it’s for a good cause. As in, feeding everyone involved’s meth habit. Er… I mean, the splendid Child’s Play charity. Toddle along and show your support, you good people. Lawful Neutral people may wish to do likewise.

Extreme Boredom=Cash=Desert Bus For Hope

By Kieron Gillen on December 2nd, 2008.

BUS!

For the second year running, we’re late to the party on this one. It’s almost as if human suffering moves us not and we cackle at weakness. Thanks to everyone who kept on prodding our vestigial consciences. Anyway – The Desert Bus For Hope has been rolling for the Good of Humankind for 3 days 8 hours 38 minutes and 15 seconds at the time of writing and just inching towards a $50,000 donation to Child’s Play. This is an impressive act of gaming endurance, and well worth donating to so perhaps you should. The last time I did a repetitive act of bare self pleasure for three days I was … well, you probably don’t want to know. Sore, y’know? Anyway, here’s a song featuring wheels on buses.
