Divinity II Devs Declare Dragon Commander

By John Walker on August 11th, 2011.

If only Dommander was a word.

Divinity II devs, Larian Studios, have announced their next game. Continuing their fondness for winged lizards, this time it’s all about “massive dragon combat” in Dragon Commander. A turn-based strategy-cum-RPG, it’s of course set in the Divinity universe – although within what they’re calling an “Art Nouveau/Steampunk world” – and they’re promising it will “break new ground”. You can see the first video of it below.

Divinity II: Dragon Knight Saga Dated, Shot

By John Walker on October 21st, 2010.

It does seem improved.

Earlier this month Jim posted about the re-release of Divinity II, with overhauled graphics, and a whole new campaign called Flames of Vengeance. The pack, titled Divinity II: The Dragon Knight Saga now has a release date, and some shiny new screenshots. It’s out at the beginning of November, in two weeks time. Which is either the 4th or the 5th – for some reason they’re being ambiguous. Take a look below to see if it will tempt you. It didn’t tempt us at the beginning of this year, but there’s a lot that’s new this time around.

Hatching: Divinity II – Dragon Knight Saga

By Jim Rossignol on October 12th, 2010.

Wow, it’s been almost a year since I dragged myself through the first dozen or so hours of Divinity II. Just the first dozen hours of what was a huge game, because I simply couldn’t cope with the grind. In many ways this was a well-produced RPG, with a lavish, sprawling world and a bajillion quests, but not being able to walk down the road because I’d get sniped to death by enemies a couple of levels higher than me really took its toll. That hasn’t stopped plenty of other folks from enjoying the dragon-based adventures, however, and it’s now back (BACK!) with an enhanced edition: overhauled graphically, and furnished with a grand total of 180 quests. It really does look lovely, but – despite it brimming with fun ideas, like dragon battles, and flying death-ships – I don’t think I will be going back. Check out the trailer below and you’ll see what I mean, it really does look the part.

No release date that I can dig up for this, but it’s supposed to appear some time this year.

Divinity II Footage Eruption

By Jim Rossignol on November 2nd, 2009.

Divinity 2: Ego Draconis is already out in Germany and some other EU countries, and is due for UK release later this month (apparently) and US release in January. I have to admit I’ve not been following it, but the claim that “The main character will also have access to their own personal tower where they can create their own creature from monsters they’ve killed” intrigues and vaguely horrifies me. European reviews seem to suggest the free-roaming RPG is actually not bad, albeit rather slow. I imagine we’ll take a look for ourselves when the UK edition turns up. In the meantime, go and examine these flickering images below. (The dragon-riding is looking a bit familiar.)
