Post-apocalyptic MMO Fallen Earth has been live for a few weeks now, and it’s garnered some mixed opinions. We decided it was time to send one of our own sinister agents down into that canyon and see what he could find. Did Icarus Studios fly too high? Or have they earned their wings? Read onwards for splendid revelation.

The post-apocalyptic MMO Fallen Earth is slowly trundling towards release, and the beta, hosted on Fileplanet (HISS!) is now open to all. Nothing much more to report at present, but I’ll be delving into it myself over the weekend, so perhaps I’ll see you in there. From what I heard from my mate Dan, it’s “mmkay, spose.” So that’s interesting.
Oh, speaking of betas, thanks to everyone who showed up for Section 8 this evening, it was a blast, even if my connection was a bit wonky.
Poster-’pocalyptic: Fallen Earth Test, Trailer

The posh new Fallen Earth website has announced that you can get into the “stress test” of the game via Fileplanet, which is great, because we all love using Fileplanet to get hold of these things… Anyway, the noises coming out of the Fallen Earth beta haven’t so far been too promising, but we’re yet to play it for ourselves, so we’re going to reserve nuke-from-orbit judgment until we do. The trailer has a modicum of snazziness to it, at least, and the lack of activity around the game – which has reportedly been content complete since last October – finally seems to be spooling up to release.

Interview: Fallen Earth’s Marie Croall

Last week we took some time to interview Marie Croall, the Content Team Lead for post-apocalyptic MMO, Fallen Earth. The question and answer exchange covers some detail about what to expect from the game world, including PvP and “classless advancement”, as well as a word on why it’s important for low-budget boutique MMOs like this one to aim low and stay fun for a core audience. I’ve posted the recent trailer again too, so you can glimpse the thing in action.
Fallen Earth: Testing, Trailering

Fallen Earth is a post-apocalyptic MMO. Back in October the Fallen Earth developers sent out a press release announcing that the game was “content complete” and that it would now enter testing. In December a link on the Fallen Earth forums indicated that forum members will be able to participate in the very early testing stage of the post-apocalyptic MMO. And yet we’ve still not mentioned it. The reason for this is because it has had a relatively low profile: the scraps of information on the lo-fi website, a few screenshots, and this trailer are pretty much all the material we have to go on. You’d think they’d be surfing on the back of that Fallout 3 hype-wave, or something. Anyway, press blurb states that Fallen Earth is “set near the Grand Canyon in 2156 after a deadly plague wiped out most of humanity, the game features six factions, a classless advancement system, and a unique crafting feature in which players can make 95 percent of game items.” Intriguing. Go take a look at that trailer below, and we’ll see if we can rustle up an interview with the people behind it.
