Galactic Princess, Ultimate General, 48 More Greenlit

WHAT IN GOD'S NAME ARE YOU DOING, MAN? YOU JUST SHOT THE SPACE CEILING.

The infernal Greenlight machine rolls on, devastating the environment and breaking hearts without missing a beat. It doesn’t care what gets in its way. It knows only one pursuit: middling-to-popular indie games. Its main fuel source? People. Well, their votes, anyway. And also some arcane fusion of press reviews, crowdfunding successes, sales on other platforms, angel dust, kitten tears, and a signed copy of The Who’s greatest hits album. But hey, I can’t fault the system’s invisible, probably mutant hand for selecting the likes of Galactic Princess, Ultimate General: Gettysburg, Hover: Revolt of Gamer, and Woolfe: The Red Hood Diaries. Slaves To The Rhthym: Galactic Princess Kickstarter

Space smuggler sim/adventure/ship-builder/I don’t really know Galactic Princess drew a salute of admiration from Craig late last year, and now it hopes to inspire a similar reaction from a few thousand people as it tries to obtain £20,000 without the Spacecops noticing. Er, by which I mean that it’s on Kickstarter, not that it’s stealing cash.

It’s a lovely looking (and sounding) thing, like FTL and Superbrothers: Sword and Sworcery threw a 1980s-themed party. Modular ship building, pew-pew party combat, Eliteish choice of what sort of space-type you want to be – a diplomatic sort, an honest trader, an arms dealer, even a slaver. Ick.

Galactic Princess Is As Pretty As A Thing

If you won't tell George Lucas then neither will we
You know, if you’d told me that my freelance career would coincide with the biggest resurgence in space gaming, I probably wouldn’t left my job. I don’t have time for this. Something’s going to have to give if I want to have time to play all these damn games and pay the bills. Galactic Princess is another game of space exploration and expansion, this time rendered in the sort of high-definition pixel art that makes everything look retro and futuristic at the same time. It’s a “spaceship survival sandbox”, one where you’re the captain of a ship and doing what you can to survive. The bad thing you do rhymes with “bravery”.
