GTA V About “Pursuit Of The Almighty Dollar”

By Jim Rossignol on November 3rd, 2011.

That's your jumper, that is.
As the internet boils over into an Ouroboros of speculation over the GTAV trailer, the full statement from Rockstar is brief and to the point:

Developed by series creator Rockstar North, Grand Theft Auto V heads to the city of Los Santos and surrounding hills, countryside and beaches in the largest and most ambitious game Rockstar has yet created. A bold new direction in open-world freedom, storytelling, mission-based gameplay and online multiplayer, Grand Theft Auto V focuses on the pursuit of the almighty dollar in a re-imagined, present day Southern California.

Other important notes: 1) We will now be calling this game “Gee Tav”. 2) PCG’s explanation of the multiple protagonists theory seems solid to me.

The GTA V Trailer Features Cars, Guns

By Alec Meer on November 2nd, 2011.

I think this means it will have money in it

A successful videogaming franchise is to see another installment! I know, whoever would have believed it? Whether Rockstar’s ever-exciting but nauseatingly over-speculated-about latest drive’n'shoot’thumper is going to be on PC as well as the toyboxes is something I don’t know at present, because I am writing these words 39 minutes in the past. You, however, are reading them 39 minutes into my future, and may already know the answer. Wait, 38. So I’ve put some fancy embed code in below that will hopefully magically transform into a live and kicking, honest-to-grud GTA V trailer come exactly 4pm UK time. If it doesn’t work, it’s probably because I’m an incompetent wuckfit, but you can see it on Rockstar’s own site. Or, y’know, every single videogame site on the internet, who’ve all been deploying all their most desperate attempts at SEO glory over the last week or so. Well done those sites, and I’m sure it will result in only the very highest-quality comment threads.

Hope it’s a good trailer, anyway. I’ll add some thoughts, if there are many to be had, once it’s unlocked and I’ve watched it. GODSPEED, VIDEOGAME FANS. I’ll see you on the other side of the marketing frenzy.

The GTA V Rumour Mill Grinds Away

By John Walker on October 26th, 2011.

Maybe it means the game will cost five dollars?

Absolutely nothing has been confirmed about GTA V, beyond there being a trailer on the 2nd November. But that’s not stopping the speculation machine from grinding its mighty gears. And the most convincing rumours seem to be coming from Kotaku.

Rockstar Announce Grand Theft Auto V

By John Walker on October 25th, 2011.

Oh, please don't be money-obsessed nonsense.

So have a look here.

Certainly not a surprise to anyone, and really the only news here is that GTA V exists. Oh, and a trailer in a week. The rest will be speculation. So I shall speculate the desperate hope that they do something radically different this time. Not in a “stuff in anything we can think of” way like San Andreas, but a completely different approach to their epic, extraordinary games. What do you reckon? Where would you like to see V heading? (Apart from to PC, in a working form.)
