Madness: THQ Drops Del Toro’s inSANE

By Nathan Grayson on August 7th, 2012.

Dear Santa, I know it’s a bit early, but I really, really want bad things to stop happening to THQ. Warhammer 40K Dark Millennium’s not an MMO anymore, Devil’s Third has flown the coop, and if any sort of harm comes to Metro: Last Light, my overburdened heart will go nuclear – leaving the rest of my organs to establish a ramshackle underground society in my legs. And now, we’re looking at the worst news yet from THQ’s ongoing financial crisis: Guillermo del Toro’s inSANE has hit the skids. So please, Santa, I’m on hands and knees here. Only you have the power to end this.

Rational Discourse: Levine And Del Toro

By Adam Smith on November 18th, 2011.

Guillermo Del Toro: "videogames are the bridge to the future of genre narrative"

Do you enjoy conversation between passionate individuals? If so, the recent Irrational Interview featuring Ken Levine and Guillermo Del Toro is a thoroughly enjoyable way to spend an hour of your day. The Mexican author/director is working on a horror game and the first part of this audio was posted on Halloween so I expected a focus on spooky happenings but the conversation is much more wide-ranging. There is some discussion of monsters but mostly it’s two men discussing the joy of the creative process, as well as the frustrations that can arise in the film and game industries.

Del Toro is frank as ever, at one point describing working on projects with no personal interest as like trying to “fuck without a boner”. He does swear a lot. Ken slowly warms to the idea of this navvy-like behavior and by the end they’re both at it. Two parts. Downloads here and here.

Guillermo Del Toro’s inSANE Announced

By Quintin Smith on December 13th, 2010.

I'd have gone with bATTY or brainBROKE myself.

Check your calendar! What are you doing in 2013? I’ll tell you what you’re doing, you’re playing Guillermo del Toro’s inSANE. Yes, the game that del Toro confirmed he was working on with THQ has been named, dated and has expelled an ominous teaser trailer. No details on the game just yet, though the cheerful Mexican director/writer says he wants “to take players to a place they have never seen before, where every single action makes them question their own senses of morality and reality.” Now, put on your spooky boots and come watch that trailer with me.

Guillermo del Toro Confirms THQ Game

By Jim Rossignol on September 30th, 2010.

You know, when Spielberg got into games it was an “okay, yeah” sort of moment, but del Toro is a more interesting proposition. Speaking with MTV, director Guillermo del Toro – who is currently working on a movie adaptation of Lovecraft’s novella At the Mountains of Madness – confirmed he is a making a horror game with THQ. “It’s horror…but it’s a very different type of horror game. It’s not survival horror. It’s truly a strange, geeky mix. It’s a Lovecraftian thing. Let’s leave it at that.”

Interesting! No idea if it’ll be on the computer box, but since it’s THQ it seems like a fair bet.
