Muse Games Explain Guns Of Icarus Online

One of the more esoteric projects on the horizon is an MMO by Muse games called Guns Of Icarus Online. It’s an MMO about Steampunk airship combat in a ruined world. Yes, that’s a popular theme around these parts so I thought I’d have a chat with Muse about what they were up to. Howard Tsao answered my questions.

Light As Feather: Guns Of Icarus Online

Airships: like weaponised clouds.
Dirigible fans might recall browser game Guns Of Icarus, in which you manned an airship as it took on aerial foes, and they might also be aware that the game is now being rebooted as a full-blown MMO, Guns Of Icarus Online. They’re likely to be unaware, however, that the first in-game footage of the reboot has been released. Until now: here it is.

Looking pretty atmospheric! Ahaha. Do you see what I did there? Between this and the Air Buccaneers remake it’s looking like 2012 will be quite the year for lighter-than-air combat.

Airship Apocalypse: Guns Of Icarus Online

Floay! Pretty!
Remember dieselpunky web-based airship defence game Guns Of Icarus? Well it turns out there was more to that project that we might have imagined. Developers Muse Games have announced that they are developing an MMO based on the idea, with players able to enter a post-apocalyptic world in which airship combat is the norm, and where sky-bandits threaten to plunge you into the barren world below. Players take on the roles of various crew archetypes aboard the airships. Sounds intriguing! There’s a website here, although no in-game shots yet, and it talks about airship PvP and exploration of the wider world. There’s also a cinematic trailer which I’ve posted below. Lovely stuff.
