Rising Higher: Guns Of Icarus Online Kickstarter II

By John Walker on April 17th, 2013.

Airship MMO Guns Of Icarus is to receive an adventure mode. The original game, Kickstarted in February 2012 (before it was cool), was released in October with the promised skirmish play. Over a year later, Muse Games returned to the crowd-funding beg-me-up to fun an expansion of the project, fleshing out the world the game takes place in, and adding an Adventure path. This second Kickstarter has just dinged its $100k, so that should now be a thing that happens.

The Sky’s The Limit: Guns Of Icarus Trailer, Linux Support

By Jim Rossignol on February 25th, 2013.

There are two airship combat games cruising the skies of our attention right now, and the most beautiful of the two is undoubtedly the spectacular Guns of Icarus Online, which has been out for a few months now. Muse Games have sent over their latest trailer (you can see that below) along with word that they’re now supporting Linux.

I’ve played a few hours of this, but not yet enough to give a verdict. Anyone else playing it?

Muse Games Explain Guns Of Icarus Online

By Jim Rossignol on January 13th, 2012.

One of the more esoteric projects on the horizon is an MMO by Muse games called Guns Of Icarus Online. It’s an MMO about Steampunk airship combat in a ruined world. Yes, that’s a popular theme around these parts so I thought I’d have a chat with Muse about what they were up to. Howard Tsao answered my questions.

Light As Feather: Guns Of Icarus Online

By Jim Rossignol on November 22nd, 2011.

Airships: like weaponised clouds.
Dirigible fans might recall browser game Guns Of Icarus, in which you manned an airship as it took on aerial foes, and they might also be aware that the game is now being rebooted as a full-blown MMO, Guns Of Icarus Online. They’re likely to be unaware, however, that the first in-game footage of the reboot has been released. Until now: here it is.

Looking pretty atmospheric! Ahaha. Do you see what I did there? Between this and the Air Buccaneers remake it’s looking like 2012 will be quite the year for lighter-than-air combat.

Airship Apocalypse: Guns Of Icarus Online

By Jim Rossignol on August 13th, 2011.

Floay! Pretty!
Remember dieselpunky web-based airship defence game Guns Of Icarus? Well it turns out there was more to that project that we might have imagined. Developers Muse Games have announced that they are developing an MMO based on the idea, with players able to enter a post-apocalyptic world in which airship combat is the norm, and where sky-bandits threaten to plunge you into the barren world below. Players take on the roles of various crew archetypes aboard the airships. Sounds intriguing! There’s a website here, although no in-game shots yet, and it talks about airship PvP and exploration of the wider world. There’s also a cinematic trailer which I’ve posted below. Lovely stuff.
