Hart Reset: Flying Wild Hog’s Free PDF Artbook

By Alec Meer on July 20th, 2012.

Every videogame would be one level shorter if train stations had never been invented. FACT

I’d be lying if I said the art of Hard Reset was the most striking thing about it – I’d be more inclined to go with ‘shooting lots and lots of robots with nice lighting effects.’ Nonetheless, it’s jolly nice of devs Flying Wild Hog to offer up a free, 137MB PDF artbook, whose 46 heavily-illustrated pages contain concept art, environments, characters and all sorts. There’s some dramatic stuff there, suggesting a distinctive world made of bits of City 17, Blade Runner and Rapture. Assorted download links below, and if you haven’t played the game yet (it evoked mixed but just about positive feelings around these parts, though I’m not sure we’ve tried the extended edition/ Exile DLC yet) it’s currently 75% offski for the complete package on Steam. In other news, Windows 8′s built-in PDF reader is just the worst thing, so definitely don’t open the artbook in that.

Gift That Keeps On Gibbing: Hard Reset’s Free DLC

By Nathan Grayson on July 12th, 2012.

Welcome to the jungle. Or, er, what's left of it, anyway.

[Edit: It's actually the Extended Edition's content, but released as free DLC on Steam. Throw rotten vegetables at me, for I have been a fool.]¬†Titled “Exile,” it’s available now and sends Major Fletcher¬†into “the Barrens – dangerous lands beyond the last human city of Bezoar, where our hero will meet new foes and make new friends.” Friendship always was my favorite part of Hard Reset.

Here’s A Hard Reset: Extended Editon Trailer

By Craig Pearson on February 9th, 2012.

An orange.
Hard Reset: Extended Edition is the original, singularly focused FPS from last year about shooting donkeys. The full game now comes with an additional four new creature types, a new boss monster, five new levels that sicks up three extra hours of play, and two additional survival mode levels. They’ve also prettied up the engine. But don’t take my word for it, for I am a notorious liar and billionaire. To make sure you’re totally convinced, publishers Kalypso Media have invented Youtube and placed the trailer up on there. Did I make that up as well? The only way to find out is to click and see.
