Have You Played… Notrium?

By Adam Smith on October 22nd, 2014.

Have You Played? is an endless stream of game recommendations. One a day, every day of the year, perhaps for all time.

The RPS archives don’t contain a single post dedicated to Notrium and Survival Week is the perfect time to remedy that. Mod-friendly, free to download and rocking a randomised alien world before ‘procedural generation’ became the buzzword de jour, Ville Mönkkönen’s top-down sci-fi treat is still an unusual experience, even if I do sometimes feel that half of the game developers in the world have been secretly taking notes from it.

Wot I Think: Driftmoon

By John Walker on March 15th, 2013.

“The game John is meant to review,” said the email attached to Driftmoon review code. Well, I’m not one to argue, so in I went. An RPG from a two-person team – Instant Kingdom – made over seven years, is an intriguing prospect. Having been intrigued enough to finish it, here’s wot I think:

It’s Finnished: Driftmoon Out Tomorrow

By Jim Rossignol on February 25th, 2013.

Charming-looking top-down RPG Driftmoon, which has been in development by Finnish dev team Instant Kingdom for quite some time now (we first reported on it back in 2011), arrives tomorrow. The Instant Kingdoms have put out a trailer of the game, which you can see below, in which players explore dungeons, look at spiders, and stroll on a beach. All good RPGing things.

Also, 15% of proceeds from the sale of the game go to the Red Cross.

Driftmoon Gets A New Trailer, Other News

By Jim Rossignol on January 14th, 2012.

It’s been a long time since we’ve heard anything from charming-looking top-down Indie RPG Driftmoon (made by the Notrium team), but now there’s stuff happening. The gang send word that they’ve blogged about what’s going on with their latest bit of development, and have released a trailer, which you can see below. There’s going to be a demo soon, they report, and you can of course already get access to the game with a pre-order. And I wouldn’t be surprised if quite a few people don’t do that, at least if they had some of the brain written over by a certain era of 16-bit home computing, anyway. Go take a look!

The Man In The Moon: Driftmoon Trailer

By Quintin Smith on April 7th, 2011.

You can recline on those webs. Yes. They are webs of lies.

Ooh, the Indiegames blog has served up another choice cut of news. Instant Kingdom, the Finnish indie developer behind awesome freeware survival sim Notrium (do check that one out if surviving through a long, cold, alien night sounds like something you’d enjoy) is currently hard at work on Driftmoon, an RPG that I think might best be described as personality-heavy. You can watch the latest trailer after the jump, and play the latest alpha build by simply pre-ordering the game direct from Instant Kingdom for €11.99. He just put in the talent tree in the last update, which I think could be compared to an RPG losing its baby teeth.
