!: Neptune’s Pride II!

By Jim Rossignol on April 15th, 2013.

Few games have had quite as much emotional impact on the RPS (or indeed PC Gamer) team as the original Neptune’s Pride. You can read the complete, epic account of our intrigue and anguish in this real-time browser-based strategy here. It was so affecting that it took over our lives for several weeks. And now it is BACK. Neptune’s Pride II: Triton has quietly launched and I can hear the sound of inevitability ringing in my ears.

Tutorial overview video explains the new game, below.

Uh-Oh: Iron Helmet Announce Jupiter’s Folly

By Jim Rossignol on August 31st, 2011.

Folly indeed, sitting-at-home fans!
Iron Helmet (they of superb multiplayer web-strategies Neptune’s Pride and Blight Of The Immortals) send word that they have a new game out! It’s called Jupiter’s Folly, and well, I’ll let Jay explain: “It’s kind of like Neptune’s Pride and kind of like Blight of the Immortals but to make things a bit different we’ve added some card game mechanics. Everything you can do in the game is represented by a card. If you want more troops you play a card, if you want to call in an orbital strike, that’s a card too. The object of the game is to be the first to mine 5000 tons of “Crystal”. It’s a race. You build mines around the map and then have to protect them from the other players.”

You can already sign up and play. Go! Go! Go! Oh my God. We’re in real danger of it happening again, aren’t we? Video below!

Blight Of The Immortals: Blight Up, Pt 1

By Quintin Smith on December 15th, 2010.

Don't you love games that really /look/ like games?

Iron Helmet, the devious devs behind Neptune’s Pride, are releasing their next project, Blight of the Immortals, in January, and I couldn’t be more excited. I’m like a sugar-loaded child over here. I’m even more excited because I’m currently in the beta of Blight of the Immortals, and over the last few days I’ve been learning precisely what the game’s about. Basically, it’s about worrying.

Iron Helmet Reveal Blight Of The Immortals

By John Walker on September 10th, 2010.

I wish I liked this sort of thing. The fun I'd have : (

You know what I love? Turn-based strategy games! I can’t get enough of them. Ohnowait, I’ve confused me with someone else. But I’m extremely assured by people both taller and wiser than me that others like them a lot. And it will be with no small clamour of excitement that they hear the news that the team behind Neptune’s Pride, Iron Helmet, have announced their new game. It’s called Blight Of The Immortals, and you can expect many more informed details from everyone else who works for this site when they see what a job I’ve made of it.

Battle Klaxon: Neptune’s Pride Before A Fall

By Kieron Gillen on February 10th, 2010.

I almost edited this screenshot to remove important data from it. That's bloody Neptune's Pride.

The RPS battle of Neptune’s Pride treads steadily on. We’re reaching that late-1917 in WW1 period of exhaustion, and we’re still trying to work out how we’re going to write it up. However, to get a taste for it, here’s Quinns writing about it for Game Set Watch. He sums up the game so…

Neptune’s Pride is a game of two things:

#1: Intergalactic War
#2: Being a jerk

He’s not entirely wrong. Read more here.
