Magic, Machine, Money: Shadowrun Funded

By Adam Smith on April 30th, 2012.

Mother Nature’s angry wrath spent the weekend attempting to tear many trees and buildings from the surface of England through careful application of furious winds and lashings of rain, which led to me spending the entire weekend indoors, occasionally peering through a trembling pane of glass. It is imperative that this week begins with merriment and what better way to bring cheer than to watch the developers of Shadowrun Returns celebrating their Kickstarter success, clearly exhausted, clearly passionate and perhaps still vaguely bewildered as to what has happened in recent times. It’s a useful reminder that for all the talk about this model of funding, the ‘ifs’, ‘buts’ and ‘far too manys’, it’s still OK to be excited from time to time.

Will It Fly: New Crimson Skies Nigh?

By Craig Pearson on April 13th, 2012.

This was the inspiration for the Red Hot Chili Peppers song
Kickstarter is feeling like this quote from Blues Brothers. No, not the God part. The “we’re putting the band back together” bit. Jordan Weismen has already managed to set-up a triumphant stadium gig for Shadowrun, and he’s told ShackNews that if it’s a success it’ll have a major impact on the potential for the return of the sky-pirate alternate history flight thing, Crimson Skies.

I don’t want to bite off more than we can chew right now. First comes Shadowrun, and we want to make that great, and then we’ll figure out where to go after that.

I am making a hopeful face. (What kind of face is that?)

You Blinked: Shadowrun Passes Kickstarter Goal

By Nathan Grayson on April 6th, 2012.

At this rate, I’m beginning to think the only way to halt Kickstarter’s charging bull stampede of success stories is to start a Kickstarter with the express aim of stopping Kickstarter. Kickstopper, as John calls it. Maybe I’m exaggerating a teensy bit, but Shadowrun‘s not-so-shadowy run right past $400,000 in 28 hours is – as these things typically are – absolutely incredible. As of writing, it now sits at¬†$517,170, which basically guarantees a Mac version, among other things.¬†Jordan Weisman and co are, of course, pleased as punch that’s pleased about passing an insane Kickstarter goal. See Weisman and his Harebrained cohorts say so in a video after the break.

Jordan Weisman Aiming To Kickstart Shadowrun Returns

By John Walker on April 4th, 2012.

It's like there's no divide between past and present any more!

Excuse me… sorry, coming through… pardon me… hi, sorry, can I just get past… Uughhh, phew. Hello, gosh, sorry about that – just trying to get past all the Kickstarter projects to drink my coffee. Hang on, what’s that sound? Oh no. Oh God no! It’s a Kickstarter AVALANCHE!

Can anyone still hear me? I’m typing through this tiny hole in the piles of Kickstarters, to try to tell you that there’s another one for a sequel to Shadowrun. Wait, no, sorry Jane Jensen, I’m trying to talk about Jordan Weisman’s project. No, Al Lowe, I’m talking to you later tonight. Come on guys, get back in line.
