Lara Croft: Please Stay Above Water

They'd beat her if they were under water.

More Tomb Raider Underworld trailers. I can’t resist them. The first is in the jungle, showing off Lara’s climby-climby powers (with a bonus cartwheel thrown in), and looks most tempting. The second is bloody underwater bits, which always suck out loud in every Tomb Raider game, and here is 99% cutscene which is even more reason to wish they just wouldn’t. Lara is not aquatic. This has been proven too many times. Anyway, concentrate on the first one.

LARA VS CTHULHU!

The last time Tomb Raider Underworld news came up, I found myself going off on my rant about how stupid people are for not being excited about a consistently excellent game series (apart from that one), that’s only getting better with each new release.

My frustrations haven’t waned. I’m seeing a couple of current mags writing previews of Underworld, saying it looks good, but they’re getting tired of the games now. Tired of an ever-improving, top-notch platforming series with a stupendous cast, excellent writing, and the best acrobatic fun available? Then you’re not a gamer! Bah! LARA VS SHARK ULTIMATE CAGEFIGHT

It’s a rather lovely story, the tale of Lara’s rescue. Tomb Raider, too infamous to maintain the reputation it deserved, span out of control. People, when reflecting on the series, will recall the first couple and begrudgingly admit that they were really good. But then they’ll say things tailed off, descending into generic sequels, eventually finishing in the hideous plane-full-orphans-crashing-into-train-full-of-puppies mess that was Angel of Darkness. But they’re wrong.

PC Gamer: Cosplaying Lara

Posted by John Walker on August 30th, 2007.

A fun piece of nonsense I wrote for PC Gamer in the current issue’s Extra Life has gone online today. It’s a guide to cosplaying Lara in Tomb Raider: Anniversary. In the game, I mean. I’ll leave Kieron to write a guide to cosplaying as her in real life.

Purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Anyway, it’s deeply silly and surprisingly fun. And yes, one of them has her in the nude. But she’s FAR cuter as a tiger.
