Left 4 Dead 2 Workshop Liiiives

By Craig Pearson on January 18th, 2013.

MODS!
I don’t know about you, but Nick in Left 4 Dead 2 just wasn’t bearded enough for me, the apocalypse certainly didn’t have enough disarmingly dressed schoolgirls, and why can’t I make my melee weapons pink? These are all concerns that have now been answered with the opening of the Left 4 Dead 2 Workshop, Valve’s integrated mod platform that makes adding picky little tweaks and full campaigns the easiest thing in the world. I’d say you could do it blindfolded, but I tried and put my fingers in my Crunchy Nut Cornflakes.

L4D2 – The Passing: Impressions Part 2

By Alec Meer on April 28th, 2010.

Where were we? Sorry about the delay. I’ve been in France, making awful jokes about floating skulls to Chris Avellone. He didn’t punch me, miraculously, but I remain mortified.
The Passing, then. I’m going to keep away from spoiler stuff in this post, bar stating the pretty-much-obvious that you don’t get to control the L41 survivors in any way.

The Passing: More On Mutations, Trailer

By Jim Rossignol on April 22nd, 2010.

The Left 4 Dead blog has some info on the “mutations” (ie game mode variants) that are being introduced with The Passing:

Our first Mutation is Realism Versus.

For this Mutation, Survivors have all the Realism changes working against them, no glows on items or survivors, tougher zombies, instant kill witches, etc. The Infected have all those changes working for them. This makes the Jockey one of the most powerful Specials for his ability to steer a Survivor out of view. You will want to make sure you have a working microphone so your teammates can hear your screams for help. This Mutation is only available in Versus.

Trailer posted below. Francis hates stuff, obv. Reckon I might be re-deading some zombies later…

The Passing Tomorrow, And “Mutations”?

By Jim Rossignol on April 21st, 2010.

Free Left 4 Dead 2 DLC The Passing is out tomorrow. It’s got lashings of content, including new infected and new weapons. But here’s the really interesting bit:

The Passing also introduces a series of weekly game mode events dubbed “Mutations.” These week-long runs of new gameplay modes range from “Realism Versus” mode to “Chainsaw Massacre,” which gives all players chainsaws with an unlimited supply of gasoline. There are over 20 Mutations planned, each playable on all L4D2 Campaigns. Mutations are exclusively available to owners of “The Passing” DLC.

It’ll be interesting to see how those things play out. Warming up my cricket bat tonight, in anticipation.

What’s In The Passing?

By Jim Rossignol on March 24th, 2010.

A sales update on the Left 4 Dead blog actually reveals some stuff. The Fallen Survivor?

Coming out this Spring for Left 4 Dead 2 is the brand new DLC “The Passing”, which contains:

A Wicked Witch Bride! A Gargantuan M60! A Slashing Golf Club! And Introducing The Fallen Survivor! Meet 3 Left 4 Dead 1 Survivors! New Game Modes!

Was that a typo? Game Modes? Didn’t we mean Game MODE? Did we mean to include that “S”?!?!?

YES WE DID!
