Found In Space: Legends Of Pegasus Out Today

By Adam Smith on August 10th, 2012.

I thought it would be a game about hooves

Legends of Pegasus is a turn-based space strategy game with realtime but pausable combat, colony management and a plot that falls out of a wormhole and comes across a bit Galactica-like. It’s out later today and I’ve managed to have a quick look, only really testing up to where it stops being a tutorial. With Gamescom and Weissbier taking up so much time next week, closer examination and eventual words about wot we think will be a little delayed so I thought I’d say, ‘hey, that game is out today’ and then add ‘I’m not sure I like the fact that combat, exploring, colonisation and management all take place on what is probably referred to as a ‘seamless’ galactic map.’

Sight For X’or Eyes: Legends Of Pegasus

By Adam Smith on July 17th, 2012.

When a trailer begins with the line, “War has been part of mankind for ages”, you know it’s going to teach you important lessons about mankind’s parts. Legends of Pegasus, the Galactica-like 4X game from Novacore, has just such a trailer. It’s quite an old trailer, showing the game’s smelly, warlike humans, but there’s a new one today showing the X’or, who are an aromatic and peaceful machine race. Both are below. In all honesty, I’ve never smelled a X’or but surely they can’t be any more malodorous than the orifice-strewn bags of guts that house all the brilliance and beauty of human intellect. The game’s campaign will see the player exploring human, X’or and an as yet unannounced third culture and Alec’s preview makes it sound like it could be quite special.

Sinful: Legends of Pegasus Preview

By Alec Meer on September 5th, 2011.

That world looks like it could be home

I saw an awful lot of games about killing men with guns at Gamescom, so escaping to Kalypso’s booth for a couple of hours to catch up on more measured fare was something of a relief. First up was Legends of Pegasus, described by new PC dev Novacore Studios as a “4X space sim, like Sins of a Solar Empire with a unique touch.” There’s also more than a little Homeworld in there, at least thematically – which means it’s also nodding to Battlestar Galactica. As the game kicks off, Earth is attacked by an alien race and nearly explodeydeaded, but a few human ships manage to flee through a wormhole first. You’re in charge, obviously, and will need to build up a new base, find out what happened to Earth and, in theory, nobble whoever was behind the assault.

Flies Like A 4X: Legends Of Pegasus

By Jim Rossignol on August 12th, 2011.

Spaceships! Better get the most out of pretend spaceships now that we cancelled the real ones, eh?
Kalypso send word that they are going to be publishing a 4X space game by Novacore Studios in Q1 of next year. The description of it makes Legends Of Pegasus sound like every 4X game ever made: “The 4X space simulation will put players in control of the last surviving humans, as they explore space in a quest to expand their galactic empire. Players will conquer and explore an incredibly detailed 3D universe as they use economic, diplomatic and scientific means to expand their empires. Through a deep technology tree, players will unlock new technologies to customize their ships and prepare their fleets for the next alien encounter…” No winged horses to be seen, so far.

But I suppose it might have something neat going on that we don’t know about just yet. Novacore themselves are some kind of German academic spin off from University Duisburg-Essen, so they’ve no previous history of games for us to infer anything from. Feature list below!
