The Games Of Christmas ’11: Day 18

By RPS on December 18th, 2011.

Ho ho ho! Ho ho ho ho ho ho ho! HO HO HO! Father Christmas’s demands on the sex worker industry are frankly grotesque. He is a bad, bad man. Fortunately, you can distract yourself from his ways by finding out what is behind door number 18 of our 2011 calendar of gaming goodnessment.

Bounty Stumper: Lego Star Wars III Trailer

By John Walker on March 5th, 2011.

My Lego figures never had guns like that.

Hoo hoo hoo, I can’t wait for Lego Star Wars III (warning: hideous, annoying website). Despite the quite remarkably boring opening to the 360 demo that I didn’t bother playing past. Also, hello former writer for PC Gamer who makes the Lego Star Wars games – how about a PC demo? Eh? Anyway, there’s a new CGI trailer/cutscene for it out of GDC and it made me laugh. Hence: post.

Lego Star Wars III: The Pre-Emptive Trailer

By Jim Rossignol on February 11th, 2011.

Is that a young yoda?
The launch trailer for Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars arrives via BigDownload, and it looks rather lovely. Well, they are calling it the launch trailer, but I thought that was supposed to roughly coincide with, y’know, the launch? The third instalment of the third-person action-puzzler-that’s-probably-really-for-kids is out March 22nd in North America and March 25th in Europe. We’ll be telling you what we think of it around that time. (But it looks fun!)

Eggo Arr Aws Eeeee! Aa Oo Aaiier!

By John Walker on January 27th, 2011.

Yoda had better double jump.

Cynical people, naff off. I adore the Lego games. With the possible exception of Lego Indiana Jones, they’ve been amazing creations, packed with wit and detail like little else. Lego Harry Potter should have been in our 2010 Calendar, and it was only because I didn’t play it until too late that I didn’t know to argue for it. So news of Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars is to be met with delight. Good – I hope everyone’s changed their minds and agrees with me now.

One particularly lovely thing about the games is that there’s no recognisable dialogue at all, instead everything communicated through peculiar speech-like noises. The video below shows the actors in the studio willingly looking daft to create these noises, along with snippets of the forthcoming game.

Lego Star Wars III: Clone Wars Announced

By John Walker on February 8th, 2010.

Well they look creepy.

You thought they’d run out of Star Wars films to make Lego games about, right? Wrong. Now the TV series, Clone Wars, is to receive the plastic man treatment. I think it’s tempting to start rolling eyes at the prospect of another Lego game. The Lego Indies have been a bit disappointing, and the prospect of Lego Harry Potter: Years 1–4 may not fill everyone’s hearts with glee. But the Star Wars games were genuinely fantastic, and yet another could be fun. It will feature all the characters from the two seasons of the show, and apparently “brand new battle modes”. There’s also a new version of the level builder, and of course lightsaber fighting. The game site’s here. So, as is obligatory, below you must suggest which other film series merit the Lego treatment. And everyone’s already said Godfather. Go!
