NCsoft Seek To Prevent US Release Of TERA

By John Walker on January 26th, 2012.

Those are the most disturbing gaming boobies I've seen in a while.

Why can’t we all just learn to get along? With MMO TERA finally having a release date set for May this year, and the pre-release hype building up, NCsoft have leapt in and thrown a court at the proceedings. As MMO Culture reports, a dispute over the ownership of software and artwork means that the release could be scuppered as it sinks in the mire of a legal bog. I’ve taken a look at the legal filing, and explained the details of the claims.

To The Grindstone: Lineage II Is Now Free

By Adam Smith on December 1st, 2011.

Pay for premium items to skip the grind! Realise you have unlocked more grind!

Prep your nose because it is in for one almighty workout. I’m not talking about sending anyone to the Christmas party of a major investment bank, I am instead alerting you to Lineage II’s abolition of subscription payments. The MMO which Tarantino and Rodriguez paid such mixed and seemingly irrelevant homage to is now yours to try for a total cost of no pennies and only three decades of your life. The Goddess of Destruction add-on provides plenty of new content for existing players as well, details of which are scattered around here. NCsoft trumpet that no content is hidden behind paywalls but shortly go on to blither that the usual premium items will allow for speedy progression.

Lineage II Joins The F2P, Uh, Lineage

By Jim Rossignol on November 2nd, 2011.

It's just for the tourists.
NCSoft send word that the mighty Korean grinder Lineage II will be ending subs and allowing currency farmers (and maybe some players) to sign up for free! Good times. They explain: “Unique among MMO offerings in the west, Lineage II will be available to players completely free – there will be no restricted zones, no limited class selection and no gear stuck behind a pay wall.” (Is that really unique in the west?) There will even be new content for players to enjoy during their trip through Lineage II’s 99 (!) level structure. As for the how and the why of the cash payment system they say that players “will have the opportunity to buy supplemental in-game items and premium item packs from the L2 Store”.

Compo: Lineage II Super-Lavish Edition

By Alec Meer on April 18th, 2008.

You can totally see her belly-button

It’s been a bit competition frenzy on RPS of late, but hell, you like free stuff, right?

This time, we’ve got a copy of the collector’s edition of Lineage II to give away, courtesy of MMO kingpins NCsoft. It’s worth £55, and it’s stuffed with tchotkes. There’s a soundtrack CD in there, a lavish artbook, a big old map, a couple of posters and a statuette of a hot elf-angel-lady-thing. Most importantly, it includes an exclusive in-game item. I quote NCsoft verbatim here: “the Pig Lollipop, which allows players to transform themselves into a pig.” Yes. The Pig Lollipop!

Entry details beneath the cut.

Lineage II: Now With More Statues

By Alec Meer on February 4th, 2008.

A copy of Lineage II: Saga II: The Chaotic Throne: First Throne: The Kamael (or L2S2TCTFTTK, as I so often call it) just popped through my letterbox, which is jolly nice of them. Unfortunately the high fantasy grind, grind and grind some more Korean MMO isn’t something I would willingly sink my own time into (especially as this past weekend has seen me lost to ecstatic Team Fortress 2 benders all over again), so I have no thoughts to share on it just now.

Instead, I’ll give you this trailer of the latest update, and let you make your own judgements. I will, however, direct your attention to the rather extraordinary Man Versus Stone Horsies action about 75% of the way through.

Gamershell – like Gametrailers, but with more Satan.
