The Salad Days: Hegemony Rome

By Adam Smith on October 14th, 2011.

Conquer this brown land, I say!

Gather round to hear a tale never before told! There was this general, Caesar, and he conquered a huge region that went by the name of Gaul, fighting off potion-swilling men of wildly varying proportions and taking control of awesome military power. With the great name he made for himself, and the awesome military power he controlled, Caesar triumphed in a civil war and became dictator of the most powerful empire in the world. Then (Spoiler Alert) people stabbed him. A lot. Now you can be Caesar but without the puncturing perfidy of his later life. Hegemony Rome: Rise of Caesar is an indie RTS about the conquest of Gaul and Ceasar’s time as a great general. Judging by Longbow Games previous Hegemony titles, it’ll offer a surprising amount of tactical depth. Here’s a trailer with a bit of Placentia in it.

Hegemony: Wars Of Ancient Greece Out

By Quintin Smith on February 23rd, 2011.

Wars got a lot more dangerous once broom handles were superceded by spears in 194 B.C.

Anyway, it looks like I’m getting a second chance. Big Download‘s posted that the developers have released Hegemony Gold: Wars of Ancient Greece, an expansion pack containing two new single player campaigns that allow players to play as either Sparta or Athens in the Peloponnesian War, which is actually my fourth favourite war, but even more excitingly developers Longbow Games have released a demo, and are selling the Ancient Greece expansion together with the original game for the reduced price of $30. Trailer after the jump.

By Kieron Gillen on May 28th, 2010.

Hoplites are ferociously protective of their enormous, if impractical, model boats.

After giving some first impressions of Hegemony: Phillip Of Macedon I started interviewing Longbow Games’ Rob McConnell. Now, with the game just appearing on Impulse and being available for a tenner over this weekend’s bank-holiday sale, I suspect it’s time to present the results. In the form of an interview. Like so…

Show Me The: Hegemony: Phillip Of Macedon

By Kieron Gillen on May 13th, 2010.

Get 'em! They're different from us!

I was planning on actually diving straight into serious work today, thinking I’ll swiftly lob up a new demo post. However, watching the trailer for the just-released Hegemony: Phillip Of Macedon something caught my eye and I thought I’d give it a quick crack. Looks kinda-Total-War-y with a more robust control system. I better check if it is that. It’s not that! It’s actually something else, which is also kinda nifty and certainly enough to make me recommend anyone interested in novel RTS-games to give a try. Video and further thoughts follow…
