Medal Of Honor’s Taliban Multiplayer

What if a real member of the Taleban plays? What then?!

Medal Of Honor, the forthcoming series restart from EA, was revealed in June by Eurogamer to allow players to play as the Taliban in multiplayer gaming. A tabloid sensation with young people being encouraged to join terrorist organisations? Perfectly normal online gaming that doesn’t represent real life? Or simply awkward taste?

Prettisaurus: Primal Carnage GDC Trailer

Pausing YouTube can't really do this justice.

We mentioned Primal Carnage last month, the mod-gone-commercial multiplayer FPS that pits humans versus dinosaurs. Which is awesome even just to type. At the time we had a couple of videos of dinosaur movement, and some impressive screenshots. We all got appropriately excited about it. And now, crikey. You really should watch the video below. Twice.

DICE: Not A Bad Company

I think it might be a sign of the utter beating the PC gamer has been taking over the last couple of years what a relief the Battlefield Bad Company 2 PC trailer proves to be. I want to hug DICE’s leg and never let it go. The PC version of the game (and let’s remember, a sequel to a game that never even had a PC version) appears to have been optimised for us in a thousand ways. From the obvious (and yet so rare) reworking of the UI to properly support the mouse, to the significant superiority of the graphics, the PC version is looking like the definitive port. There’s multiple monitor support, retuned weapons to support twitch combat, DX11 support with remarkable lighting and shadows, and perhaps most of all, 32 player battles over the Xbox’s 24. On the dedicated servers. Accessed via the PC-specific server browsers.

Can’t get Crysis multiplayer to work? Crytek know your woes.

No one to shoot

For everyone struggling to get multiplayer to work properly, Crytek are on it. And while the connectivity issues are being hit with a thousand spanners, the company offers some helpful workarounds for those affected.

“Word from Crytek: We just would like to let you know that we are aware of the currently occurring issues regarding playing Crysis Multiplayer online. We are already in touch with Gamespy, EA and the world-wide server provider to resolve the problems. This topic has the highest priority for us now and we hope to come up with a solution as quickly as possible.”

Teewars

During this drought of online multiplayer games, we were grateful for a tip-off from reader Aleksander Kiin, linking us to Teewars.

FEEL MY HAMMER

Despite appearances, it’s nothing like Worms, so no need to worry there. It is in fact a super-cutesy 2D shmup, with four standard weapons, one very cool bonus samurai sword, and a grappling-hook-chain-thing on the right mouse button for making those awkward leaps.

Once the chain is mastered moving around the maps is lots of fun, making it all the more satisfying when a rocket lands smack-bang in your opponent’s chirpy face. And then you realise you can fire the chain at other players. It’s free, and there are a people playing on the servers even first thing in the morning. Certainly worth checking out.
