GoD Factory: Wingmen Finally Blasts Off

By Ben Barrett on September 3rd, 2014.

I love a good backstory, but competitive 4-on-4 space arena shootybang GoD Factory: Wingmen has one as long as they come and as weird as its name. The wild ride begins, for us at least, with Jim discovering its first Kickstarter (yeah, that’s where this is going)┬áin May last year. He noted it was especially fancy on the ship design front, and lamented that it seemed it’d miss its crowdfunding goal. Craig had a play of the demo a couple of weeks later, but the writing was on the wall.

We didn’t write about their second Kickstarter, which did a lot better but still still failed to meet the target by a reasonable margin. Normally this is around when you’d pack up your space blaster and go back to your zero-g home but not for GoD Factory. Nine Dots Studio kept on trucking, eventually securing funding from Namco Bandai. And here we are, with the game now out on Steam.

Space Playin': GoD Factory: Wingmen Demo

By Craig Pearson on July 5th, 2013.

Babylon 10
Space games have managed to squeeze a fair amount of money out of the vast nebula of crowd-funders. To some, it might even appear to be a revival. But GoD Factory: Wingman is proving glorious 4 vs 4 space battles and ships wearing top hats are not a guaranteed cash cow. Maybe other games are sucking up the backers, but with 24 hours left and only less half of the $70,000 acquired, it doesn’t look like it’ll make it. The small glimmer of hope they have left is if you play the recently released demo and decide it must be backed. Give it a go, because it is rather slick.

More Videogames! GoD Factory: Wingmen

By Jim Rossignol on June 26th, 2013.

Quite how multiplayer space-combat dogfighters vs capital-ship game GoD Factory: Wingmen hasn’t raised the mere $70,000 Kickstarter ask is beyond me. Look at it! Great big mad spaceships all customisable and made out of colours and stuff. It reminds of crazy old 6DoF shooter Forsaken or something like that, only it’s about taking on squadrons of spaceships to blow up their base ship. They explain: “the players must destroy different key areas of the enemy Carrier to incapacitate it and ultimately destroy it. Destroying a Carrier part gives penalties to the enemy team, and each broken part inflicts a different penalty. The key to victory will be to work as a team and many weapons and abilities will have secondary uses that can only be triggered by joining up with other players.”

Go look, because I think this should probably happen.
