No PC Demo For Driver: San Francisco

By John Walker on August 9th, 2011.

We need a demonstration about this lack of demonstrations.

As part of what can now only be interpreted as Ubisoft’s ongoing campaign to ensure Driver: San Francisco is the most hated PC game of all time, not only will it include their abhorrent ‘always-on’ DRM (meaning everyone from those without a reliable internet connection to those in the armed forces can’t play it), but there’s also going to be no demo! The consoles get their demo of the game tomorrow, but according to Ubisoft, “There are no current plans for a PC demo.” When we asked why not we were bluntly told, “We have no information on any PC demo planned.”

No PC Demo For Red Faction: Armageddon?

By John Walker on May 3rd, 2011.

Just acknowledge we exist - that's all we ask.

If it weren’t for my throat being quite so epically sore, I’d be sighing long and hard enough to power a hovercraft. After all of Volition’s trumpeting about finally treating the PC as an equal, no longer farming out PC versions of their games, and generally trying to sell themselves as the PC gamer’s bestest friend, the same old tiresome nonsense is occurring. Want to play the demo of Red Faction: Armageddon, a month before the full game comes out? Well, get a 360 then. And if the PS3 ever claws its way out of its current embarrassing mess, they’ll release the demo on that, too. But the PC? Um, cough.

No PC Bulletstorm Demo, CliffyB Indifferent

By John Walker on January 17th, 2011.

No finding out whether this is the sort of thing you want.

Aw, that Cliffy B is such a sweetheart. With the news that Bulletstorm demos will be available for the 360 and PS3, but not the PC, clearly a few people with a big grey box are a little miffed. Is this in case of demo piracy? Er um. So the gaming’s Man Of Tact, as Blues report, has attempted to quell the storm with a thoughtful and thought-provoking tweet on the matter:

http://bit.ly/eTr0BR – BULLETSTORM DEMO COMING TO 360/PS3 JANUARY 25th. In other news, PC gamers are grumpy about this.”

Meanwhile, even though they don’t deserve it, there’s a couple of new videos below.

Uh, Thanks: No Splinter Cell Demo

By John Walker on March 18th, 2010.

Much like Mr Fisher, PC gamers are being kept in the dark. AHA HA HA!

Ubisoft, as part of their current PR campaign to win the hearts and minds of PC gamers, are taking a new approach. Not only will anyone wanting to play Splinter Cell: Conviction be forced to keep their PC permanently online (and hope Ubisoft’s own servers stay online over a weekend) if they want to be able to play the single player game, but now very disappointingly there’s no demo for the PC player.

Everyday Shooter On Steam

By Kieron Gillen on May 8th, 2008.

Man, I hope no PS3 owners read this

Well, that’s one of the three generally-accepted reasons to have spent money on a PS3 struck out (The other two being Singstar and Uncharted). Geometric-blaster Everyday Shooter makes its way onto Steam for ten dollars, with ten percent off in this first week.

No demo yet though. Pah.
