Feast For The Eyes: An Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty Trailer

By Craig Pearson on March 20th, 2014.

For the second time, the original Oddworld game has been rejigged for modern machines, which might be an honest-to-goodness record. Sure, there have been re-imaginings of multiple series, but I can’t remember a game being officially remade more than once. Can anyone confirm or disconfirm that for me? Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty is so new and modern that the phrase “1080p” is in the press release, and the trailer below uses all those pixels to take the old (and still rather pretty platform) game and make it pixelerier.

EDIT – Stewart at Oddworld got in touch to disconfirm! He explains that New ‘n’ Tasty is the only remake of the original game. I was referring to the Oddboxx, which isn’t considered a remake as it’s still the original game.

Fresh Meat: Oddworld Abe’s Oddysee New N’ Tasty

By Adam Smith on October 1st, 2012.

totally ripping off Limbo

Abe’s Oddysee HD will now be known as Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee New N’ Tasty, because apparently the world isn’t a silly enough place. At the Eurogamer Expo, Oddworld founder Lorne Lanning and Stewart Gilray of Just Add Water, the company handling development, spoke about the remake reboot reimagining reoddering at length, also showing the game for the first time. That presentation can be seen below, but they also spoke to Eurogamer about what has and hasn’t been changed. Flip screens are out, camera movements are in and all FMVs have been replaced with in-engine cutscenes. Gilray says: “…we’re not reinventing the wheel. We know the wheel. We’re just putting better spokes on it.”

Oddworld Buzzes In With Hand of Odd

By Craig Pearson on April 13th, 2012.

Mmm, honey
In a classic case of me not noticing what’s right in front of me, it took me at least three minutes to realise that there were bees all over the Oddworld Hand of Odd logo on the new teaser site, encasing whatever the hell that thing is in delicious honeycomb. I’ve no idea what the game will be, but it’s from Just Add Water, who ported Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath to the PC (and it ran like a flatulent donkey after a bowl of chili). The game did exist in a previous, albeit unreleased, form as an RTS on the PS2. We have footage of that below, via the documentarian device known as Youtube.

Oddboxx Pricced

By John Walker on December 15th, 2010.

Cheer up, PCs are great!

Like so many series that saw their beginnings on the PC, then ABANDONED US LIKE DIRTY TURNCOATS, the Oddworld games hitched up their trousers and stomped off to the consoles in the last decade. SCREW THEM! you may cry. But it’s important to be forgiving, especially in the face of contrition. So it is that we’ve known the complete collection of Oddworld games, amidst rumours of a new addition to the series, is to appear on all manner of PC download services, maybe later this month. And now we know the prices.

Oddboxx Alive, Hitting This December

By Quintin Smith on December 7th, 2010.

'Yeah, you heard me. I called you a chicken.'

A year ago (wow!) Jim posted news that the PC would be seeing the release of Oddboxx, a pack of all the Oddworld games including the never-released-on-PC titles Munch’s Odyssey and the wonderfully perverse bounty hunting game Stranger’s Wrath, plus some small additions and extras. Well, I can now announce that Oddbox is not only alive and kicking, but it’ll be released “this holiday season” on plenty of big direct to drive outlets, including Steam. Are you excited? You should consider being excited. Look, I’ll post a video of Stranger’s Wrath (which has an 88% Metacritic score, BY THE WAY) after the jump.

Oddbox: Oddworld Games On PC

By Jim Rossignol on October 9th, 2009.

Thanks to everyone who sent in the link to this interview, in which Oddworld creator Lorne Lanning revealed: “all four of the major Oddworld games will be re-releasing this winter in a package called “The Oddbox.” This will be the Abe games, Munch, and Stranger as one package for Steam’s digital distribution network, as well as a few other digital distribution outlets.” That means we’ll get to see Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee and Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath on PC. No work on pricing yet, nor an exact release date, but it’s schedule for this winter.
