Of Orcs And Men And Launch Trailers

By John Walker on October 10th, 2012.

It was only May when I was first amazed to discover that spiders could develop games. And now Of Orcs And Men is out tomorrow. Those industrious arachnids. You can see a completely unhelpful CGI launch trailer below, that doesn’t give you any idea whatsoever what the game’s like. Because that’s what trailers are for, right?! Silly billies.

The Green Party: Of Orcs And Men

By Adam Smith on October 4th, 2012.

Of Orcs And Men, which is out a week from now, has a sneaky, backstabby goblin and a hulking great brute of an orc. If you can get past such crude stereotyping you might find there’s more to the duo than expected. They bicker, you see, in the style of a mild-mannered middle-aged accountant and a young, maverick number-cruncher forced to share a room during a corporate retreat. It’s a fantasy adventure and a mismatched buddy movie. I hope Arka├»l, the orc, reveals in an emotional late scene that he’s only a tough brawler because he had to grow up on the streets and never knew his parents. Styx the goblin is like a father to him.. Oh, and Styx? I reckon this is his last quest before retirement.

Of Ooos And Ahhhs: Of Orcs And Men Looks Quite Good

By Nathan Grayson on July 7th, 2012.

Not pictured: men.

It’s been more than a year since we last peeked into the Cyanide-and-Spiders-filled cauldron that’s cooking up Of Orcs And Men, and that’s a bit of a shame. If you ask me, it’s looking rather promising – though information on combat, skills, etc is unfortunately scarce at the moment. But, at the very least, the central concept – humans are dumb jerks and you, an orc, must battle back against their oppressive, racism-steeped regime – sounds like it could provide the ingredients for a very special dish: a fantasy RPG that’s actually unique. You’ll find two impressive-looking trailers beyond the break, after which you are cordially invited to join me in heel-clicking-centric merriment and light discussion. There will, however, be no refreshments, because humans are jerks who don’t deserve liquids.

Baith Snell An’ Keen: Of Orcs And Men

By John Walker on May 3rd, 2011.

He sure is an orc. Um.

Mostly I’m impressed with the tenacity of the title, Of Orcs And Men. That, and my discovery that the green-skinned RPG is developed by spiders. I mean, we’ve played games made by bears, and a couple of flops from raccoons, but spiders! I’ve been waiting so long to see what those industrious beasties could do. And it seems their first high-profile project is… wait, sorry, someone’s talking in my ear… Oh. Spiders. Well, good.
