Plants Vs Zombies 2 looks pretty fantastic. Admittedly, I’m basing that on it being shown off by PopCap, who seem to know exactly what to do – check out that subtitle – in a video describing what’s going on the new game. But I think it’s fair to say that if the zombie-apocalypse genre ever needed a representative in the puzzle-game department, this should probably be it.

Bolts instead of flowers in the logo? Hmmmmmm.

“Son, did I ever tell you the story of Plants vs Zombies?”

“Yes, dad, like, 20 time–”

“It was soooooo great. Made people go like this. I mean, plants? Fighting zombies? Hilaaaaaarious! But then it tipped its hat and rode off into the mobile/social sunset, never to be seen again. And we were like this. Lulllllz. It’s been ages since then. I don’t think you’d even been born yet.”

“It’s been four years. Really not that long in the grand scheme of things. I am 27.”

Please don't make Tallnut a microtransaction

Happy face: PopCap’s Plants vs Zombies 2 will apparently arrive this Summer. I love PvZ. I want more PvZ.

Worried face: PopCap now belong to EA, who want to put microtransactions in everything they can. I’m crossing fingers, toes, unmentionables and internal organs that PvZ2 can somehow escape this disease and just be a lovely, complete little game of its own.

Still Rotting On Your Lawn: Plants vs Zombies 2

Best of all the news: Popcap have announced Plants vs Zombies 2.
Worst of all the news: We won’t get to play the vegetation vs vegetative tower defence sequel until late Spring next year.
Medium news: basically no details apart from that and “hordes of new Plant and Zombie types.” The press release makes up for it by saying “and mulch more” though.
