Wot I Think: Strike Vector

By Jim Rossignol on March 3rd, 2014.

Strike Vector‘s eye-catching trailers meant that it was destined for my hard-drive. I have a long, over-documented fondness for that genre of game that straddles all types of non-simulatory flight combat, and although it’s taken me a while to catch up with Strike Vector, I’m glad I did. Back in the times of Forsaken and Descent, I would sink lifetimes into these kinds of games, and Strike Vector – a multiplayer take on the idea – feels very much like a cry from that distant and beautifully three-dimensional past.

But does that invocation of the classics lead to greatness? Here’s Wot I Think.

Strike Vector Lands On Steam, All DLC To Be Free (!)

By Nathan Grayson on January 29th, 2014.

Aka, Motion Blur: The Blurrening

I was going to poke fun at the name Strike Vector to take some pressure off the colossal responsibility that is introducing a videogame news post, but then I decided to make sure I knew all meanings of the word “vector” and nope, I absolutely do not. A strike vector might be an actual thing, as my education in the field of vectorology is woefully lacking. I do, however, know one thing for sure: Strike Vector The Videogame is unarguably stunning, especially given that it’s a relatively small indie effort. Also, its unique brand of transforming, sky-city-deforming shootyblams is now on Steam. Hurrah!

Strike Vector Looks Striking, Beta Revving Up

By Nathan Grayson on December 20th, 2013.

Fact: excessive motion blur has killed 27 million in-game pilots in the past year. In 2014, the toll threatens to be even higher.

The day mankind invents the flying guncar is the day our true descent into apocalyptic dishevelment finally begins. Or I suppose it could also guide us into the future proposed by The Jetsons, but regardless: flying cars mean flying cities which in turn both mean that something has gone horribly wrong. The planet’s become uninhabitable, so humanity’s decided to stink up the sky too. I must confess, though, that guncar skywar looks way more fun than regular old infantry (or even plane) battling, so it’s not all bad. Well, except for the whole war part. But anyway, Strike Vector is coming along swimmingly (flyingly?), and its open beta is taking off in January. Trailer below.

Strike Vector Is Clear For 2014 Take Off

By Jim Rossignol on August 27th, 2013.

I didn’t get a chance to see Strike Vector at the phenomenally busy Gamescom event in Cologne last week, but I rather wish I had, because it looks simply splendid. The fly-and-explode game has some of the finest concept art I’ve seen, and that’s been transmuted into an extraordinarily pretty sci-fi flight combat game, as you can see in the trailer below. We can only hope the play is as tight as the look.

The game is inbound for some time in early 2014. Can’t wait.
