Rise And Stream: Watch Us Chatter Over (Ugh) Rambo

By Nathan Grayson on February 22nd, 2014.

That is one very shiny man

So I think I’m going to make this Friday night/Saturday morning (depending on your timezone) stream a regular thing. And what better way to christen an official feature than by cursing the name of every major deity and wishing I had never been born? Rambo: The Video Game is not very good. Playing it will likely be An Ordeal. And so, for some reason, Hayden Dingman from PCWorld (who is temporarily living on my floor because I AM SUCH A GOOD PERSON) and I have elected to play it for your amusement/schadenfreude. Prepare to watch us curse through QTEs, bungle forced stealth sections, and generally rage against our machines. The stream will kick off at 9 PM PT/5 AM GMT. It will go until we remember that we are young and still have so much left to live for. Tune in below.

Update: Aaaaaaaaand we’re done! You can watch a recording of the whole thing below.

Rambo: The Video Game Boasts Of Its QTEs

By John Walker on January 20th, 2014.

A game’s name can imply a lot. The name Rambo: The Video Game gives me some very clear first impressions. The most striking of all being it has nothing to say of its own. I’ve no idea if that’s fair at all – I’ve never played it. But The Straight Game Of The Film has yet to prove a good idea (with the colossal exception of Lego and GoldenEye), and the footage of this one isn’t promising an exception. The latest, incredibly clumsy trailer is below.

Rambo Is A (Beautifully Mulleted) MACHINE OF WAR

By Nathan Grayson on January 13th, 2014.

Evil forest cowboys have never been the best strategists.

I’m kind of glad that Rambo: The Video Game is looking painfully generic. I mean, who better to carry the torch of ceaseless neckshank killsplosions than the man we all colloquially associate with the tropedemic anyway? (If you’d asked me a week ago, I would’ve said Michael Bay, but now I want a game where he kills people with crazy handshake-legswing combos.) It’s almost poetic, insofar as something I would consider the opposite of poetry can be poetic. But Rambo: The Video Game’s case of terminal generitis is also kind of a shame, given that the tense nature of the original film could’ve made for a pretty interesting videogame. Oh well, though. At least they totally got the mullet right.

A Game For My Dad: The Rambo Trailer

By Craig Pearson on July 12th, 2013.

Look at that 'do!
The previous trailer for the Rambo: The Video Game game showed nothing but scenes from the movies. Reef Entertainment laughingly called it a “cinematic teaser”, which is really silly because there’s no teasing when we’ve all seen those movies. It was just cinematic. Now there’s an actual in-game trailer, and while it looks pretty basic and a bit stinky, I urge you to stick with it. Rambo’s hair is magnificent, and the ending made me laugh. It is below.
