Rambo: The Video Game Boasts Of Its QTEs

By John Walker on January 20th, 2014.

A game’s name can imply a lot. The name Rambo: The Video Game gives me some very clear first impressions. The most striking of all being it has nothing to say of its own. I’ve no idea if that’s fair at all – I’ve never played it. But The Straight Game Of The Film has yet to prove a good idea (with the colossal exception of Lego and GoldenEye), and the footage of this one isn’t promising an exception. The latest, incredibly clumsy trailer is below.

A Game For My Dad: The Rambo Trailer

By Craig Pearson on July 12th, 2013.

Look at that 'do!
The previous trailer for the Rambo: The Video Game game showed nothing but scenes from the movies. Reef Entertainment laughingly called it a “cinematic teaser”, which is really silly because there’s no teasing when we’ve all seen those movies. It was just cinematic. Now there’s an actual in-game trailer, and while it looks pretty basic and a bit stinky, I urge you to stick with it. Rambo’s hair is magnificent, and the ending made me laugh. It is below.

First (Person) Blood: Rambo, The Game, The Trailer

By Jim Rossignol on August 3rd, 2012.

“All FPSes are Rambo, no FPSes are Rambo. The difference is in the dose” – Paracelsus.

While Reef Entertainment saw fit to release a few screenshots of their Rambo game (one of which you can see above) it’s telling that the trailer for the game, which you can see below (as is traditional) features nothing but scenes from the Rambo movies. It’s fitting, I suppose, at a time when videogames are shooting live-action trailers to promote their rendered action happenings, the movie licence need not bother to show its game at all, because it has the movie.

Rambo – just so you know – will be a first person shooter comprising of a “journey” through the first three movies. Why not Rambo 4?

Ripped: Reef’s Rezon Reveals Rambo

By Jim Rossignol on August 5th, 2011.

Reef CEO Peter Rezon, yesterday.
Reef Entertainment have announced, via trade site MCV, that they are working on a new Rambo franchise. Reef Entertainment CEO Peter Rezon explained: ā€œI am a big fan of Sylvester Stallone movies, and when we had the opportunity to secure the video game rights from StudioCanal for the Rambo franchise, we had to grab it with both hands.ā€

No details for what kind of game it will, yet, but Rezon says it’s “a triple-A title” and also claims that “now was a good time to do something special with this licence.” I reckon that might include dudes getting shot. Not that I think the game is definitely going to be a manshoot. Perhaps it’s more psychological: a traumatised Vietnam veteran management game, or something. Can you go into that diner without flipping out with a knife? No, no.
