And Everything Else From THQ Went To… Nordic Games?

By Nathan Grayson on April 23rd, 2013.

Did you hear that ominous raven on my shoulder that portends the impending doom of all that ever was and will be? Everything's gonna be fine!

OK, Nordic Games, the jig’s up. You can go ahead and change your name to THQ II: The Rise Of Mecha-Bilson already, because seriously, you just purchased the publisher’s legacy. Sure, Gearbox snagged Homeworld, and the company’s modern heavy hitters found new, loving homes, but Nordic now (pending court approval) owns nearly everything else. Red Faction? Yep. Darksiders? Oh, certainly. And oh man, Titan Quest? Sure, why not. Supreme Commander too. And hey, remember Full Spectrum Warrior? I must admit, I – along with my good friend, Basically The Entire World – had forgotten about it, but Nordic deemed the military tactics sorta-sim worth salvaging. Here’s the kicker, though: all those? Only the tip of the iceberg.

Red Faction, Fresh Explosioneering For 2009

By Jim Rossignol on October 18th, 2008.

As conoisseurs of The Explosion we are keen to sample both new blends and vintage detonations. Red Faction: Guerrilla is a fresh formulation of popular a traditional recipe, and it’s looking no less delicious for that. Red Faction Further Action

By Kieron Gillen on February 6th, 2008.

Red Red Faction, shoots me in the head, makes me forget that I loved you so (Freespace 2). Well, not actually.

This always feels a little like “Publisher Announced Sequel To Commercially Successful Game” shocka, but – yes – THQ have confirmed that there’s going to be a Red Faction 3. We knew there was going to be a further Red Faction game since last year, but we’re now sure that it’s a proper “III”. Also, Volition will be back on coding duties and it’ll be out (er) in the coming financial years, it seems. Which basically means any time from April until March 2009. Other details are a tad loose. We live in hope they get the modern take on the GeoMod to actually do something nifty. Or that Volition somehow trick THQ, making them think they’re developing Red Faction III, when in fact they’re developing Freespace 3 (“See, THQ Suit Guy – it’s got a “III” in it. And it’s Sci-Fi. Same game, honest”).
