No Oceans: Call For Worldwide Release Dates

By John Walker on March 22nd, 2011.

I imagine this is how God must have felt.

Crysis 2 comes out today! And Lego Star Wars III! Hooray! Except of course, only if you drawl your vowels. These two big games are out in America only today. Crysis 2 reaches Australia on Thursday, and the finally completes its journey to Europe by Friday. Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars is taking a three day journey to Europe to reach us by Friday, before then walking to Australia to eventually be released eight days after its US launch. We’ve had enough.

No Oceans is RPS’s campaign to have the UK release day for games changed to Tuesday, to come into line with North America. Which will be a lot of work. It means convincing retail to change their delivery days, and reschedule their systems. But we think it’s worth it, both for them and for customers. Here’s why.

Homefront Sells 0 Copies In UK

By John Walker on March 16th, 2011.

Scenes at THQ HQ, yesterday.

They’ve announced that, in Australia and New Zealand at least, Deus Ex: Human Revolution will be getting released on the 25th of August (EDIT: the UK will be getting it on the 26th). That probably means it’ll be out in the rest of the planet on a similar timescale, so put a big circle round the month of August in your calendar. Just five months off, so I bet Eidos Montreal are flat out like a lizard drinking getting the game finished.

They’ve also got a trio of shiny new screenshots for us to squizz at. The first one is up there, and the second two are down there: Read the rest of this entry »

Dating Agency: Mass Effect & Dead Space

By John Walker on February 26th, 2008.

A couple of significant release dates are reaching us, one that makes us smile, the other making us do a little bit of a frown.

No one faces the camera in the PC shots.

We knew BioWare were surprising everyone with a May release for the PC port of Mass Effect. The even better news, according to Videogamer, is that it’s very near the beginning of the month, May 6th (for N. America, at least – they predict the 9th for us olde worlders).
