Wot I Think: Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City

By Richard Cobbett on May 25th, 2012.

This is not a good week for a bad zombie game to land. Incidentally, do you think PopCap has approached Bohemia Interactive to discuss a Plants vs. Zombies team-up called 'DayZ, DayZ'?

When we asked Richard to take a look at Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, he started sniffling and claiming to have gone down with the T-Virus. Can this action-packed retelling of the series’ early years be the cure to what ails him, or just one more headache?

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City On PC May 18th

By Jim Rossignol on February 25th, 2012.

Who'd have thought gasmasks would be in vogue for another year running?
Capcom send word that the next Resident Evil game will be bursting out of our digital distribution outlets and feasting on our glands from May 18th. To celebrate this fact they’ve also put out a noisy trailer showing a lot of footage from the game. And hey, it looks extraordinarily violent. Raccoon City was inspired by the development of Lost Planet 2 (which I rather enjoyed) and you can definitely see the influences of that game playing out here.

Meet The Operation Raccoon City Teams

By Craig Pearson on February 2nd, 2012.

Rule #1: never give Darth Vader's brother a knife.
Where are the Craigs and Johns and Alecs and Adams and Jims? Capcom wants you to get to know the people that’ll be stalking the streets in their Left 4 Dead-ish multiplayer shooter, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City. Their first defence against the undead: they’re too busy laughing at their names to bite them.

“Lupo”, “Vector”, “Bertha”, “Spectre”, “Four Eyes” and “Beltway” are being hunted by “Dee-Ay”, “Willow”, “Harley”, Party Girl”, “Shona”, and “Tweed” through the streets of Raccoon City, as both teams have to contend with the years of psychological torture their names brought them at school. And zombies I guess.

Operation Raccoon City Gameplay Footage

By Adam Smith on January 12th, 2012.

Head like a head with a hole in it

This feels like an inundation of Resident Evil footage but the trailer that is but two days old didn’t contain any actual gameplay, and Capcom have decided to release a video today that is entirely made up of just such action, making it infinitely more interesting. Hectic monster-shooting, defending and escorting is on the cards. In fact, it looks far more hectic than just about anything else I’ve seen today, although, as always, I’ve been playing turn-based strategy games since I woke up so may not be the best gauge for hecticosity. Judge with your own eyes and mind.

Glumbrella: Operation Raccoon City

By Adam Smith on January 10th, 2012.

Who wants a hug? Do you want a hug? Oh yes you do!

The first thing I like to do on a Tuesday morning is expose my ignorance to as many people as possible. Here’s today’s effort – I didn’t know Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City (ReOrc) involved people killing other people as well as people killing zombies and mutants. Perhaps you didn’t either. A new trailer shows that the mean nasties of the Umbrella Security Services will be using all kinds of fancy technowizardry to clean up the bio-contagion errors of their employers while a US Spec Ops team will be trying to expose the company’s nefarious doings. The results of those nefarious doings, running the gamut from zombies to tyrants, will be making everyone’s life miserable. Also, things explode a lot. Observe.

Operation Raccoon City Shots Are Quite Dark

By Quintin Smith on April 12th, 2011.

Bet you thought that girl at the back was a zombie, didn't you? She's not. She just loves jam donuts.

Capcom opened up with a veritable salvo of news not one hour ago, so bear with me while I assemble it all. First up are a collection of new shots for co-op tactics-fest Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City. As if those images of the main characters weren’t badass enough, it now turns out that they’re adept at using live zombies as human shields. Leon S. Kennedy never tried that, did he? Nope. What a wuss.

Res Evil: Op Racc City Tease Trail Yay!

By Jim Rossignol on March 31st, 2011.

I love raccoons! So cute.
It’s true, there is now a teaser trailer for then recently-confirmed-for-PC Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City. What’s interesting about this is that it apparently came about as an idea during the development of co-optastic Lost Planet 2, and you can see some of the influences from that already, with this looking like quite a gun-heavy zombie shooter, as well as apparently being co-op focused. Could be really interesting. And yes, that trailer is just south of here. (Via Blues.)

PC Getting Some Resident Evil This Winter

By Quintin Smith on March 28th, 2011.

Give the evil an eviction notice already.

Have you heard of a game called Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City? Me either. But Capcom have announced that it’ll be launching on PCs as well as console-toys this Winter, so let’s take a look.

Firstly, though- let’s say your love of Resident Evil was eroded by Resident Evil Zero, Resident Evil 5 or either the Resident Evil movie or any of its three (THREE) sequels. Not a problem! Because Operation Raccoon City sounds less like Resident Evil and more like a 3rd person Left 4 Dead, with your deeply human four man team replaced by an equal number of leathery freaks. First images and details below.
