Rest In Peace, SophiaButler

By RPS on July 4th, 2015.

This weekend we learned the tragic news of the suicide of RPS community member SophiaButler. A loved and respected member of RPS’s Planetside 2 group, we know lots of our readers will be deeply feeling her loss.

We want to respond by encouraging people to make a donation to the Albert Kennedy Trust, a charity that provides support for LGBT 16 to 25 year olds who are homeless or living in hostile environments. And we don’t want to lose anyone else, so below are details of places you can seek help if you need support with any issues of depression or suicide.

The Lighthouse Customer: RIP

By Marsh Davies on November 3rd, 2014.

It's very hard to sleep when you do that, bro.

Each Monday, Chris Livingston visits an early access game and reports back with stories about whatever he finds inside. But Chris isn’t here this week, so Marsh Davies has hurriedly stepped in to tug on the kevlar-flavoured war-teat that is RIP, a military multiplayer FPS which lays somewhat dubious claims to MOBA mechanics.

It’s sad to see the creators of Full Spectrum Warrior, Battlefront, Mercenaries and Destroy All Humans closing their doors. Some of the company have responded in the only proper way, by creating an Office Space tribute, which you can see below.

RIP, D&D Co-Creator Dave Arneson

By Alec Meer on April 9th, 2009.

It has been sad times for proto-gaming of late. We lost Gary Gygax a mere 13 months ago, and, unbelievably, his Dungeons & Dragons co-creator Dave Arneson has now passed away too. The great man died on Tuesday, aged just 61.
