The RPS Social Club Is On Tomorrow

By John Walker on January 27th, 2012.

Social? Sounds dubious to me.

Have you ever met a person? EW! People are hairy, covered in limbs, and sometimes they try to talk to you about taxes. Dreadful. But fortunately, thanks to the latest technology created by RPS Laboratories Incorporated, we’ve invented the perfect way to meet actual real people who never talk to you about taxes! (The are still hairy and limby – we’re working on that.) It’s the RPS Social Club, and it’s meeting tomorrow! To be a part of this, it’s happening in London, at The Blue Posts, from 6pm to midnight. You can find out more details on the forum.

Friday, London: The RPS Meet-o-Chat 2011

By Alec Meer on September 19th, 2011.

I'll be the one in the top hat. Adds four inches to my height, see

This week marks the Eurogamer Expo at Earl’s Court in London, an event at which there will be many delightful videogames to see and play – including a raft of top-notch indie titles. Some members of RPS will be in attendance at the show on the Friday at least, but on Saturday we must all flock to Bath as a last ditch attempt to rescue the lady John has tricked into marrying him that day. However, we will also be lurking in an alehouse in the vicinity of the Expo on Friday night, where we will be in the proximity of copious amounts of alcohol/soft drinks and, hopefully, you.

Wanna come along?

The RPS Social Club Returns Tomorrow

By Alec Meer on July 15th, 2011.

People of Britain! It has been a proud week. The lizard-king has been ousted from his secret throne of hate, the weather has been strong and The Apprentice continues to prove that reality TV isn’t necessarily unwatchable horror-tedium aimed at morons and the intellectually lazy. We should celebrate with another RPS Social Club. This time, it’s another Southern-centric gathering of drink’n'chat, held at The Blue Post near London’s famous and famously crowded Leicester Square. Maybe you’ll see the Queen, or Ben Elton. You’ll definitely see a bunch of RPS readers and perhaps a contributor or two though – or at least you will if you make your way up to the Blue Post’s function room from 6pm onwards tomorrow, Saturday 16 July. A chum’s birthday do (the latest of far too many in recent weeks, which says far too much about the mating habits of my friends’ parents) means I won’t be attendance, but I do wish I was. Have fun!

BOOM! The RPS Social Club Rides Again

By Quintin Smith on July 4th, 2011.

Alec really does have the best handwriting

BOOM! That is the noise of the drinking drum, summoning you lot into action, because the London branch of the Rock, Paper, Shotgun Social Club has finalised the dates for its next three meets. Including, no kidding, a Ladies Night.

What are you doing on Saturday the 16th of July, Saturday the 13th of August and Saturday the 27th of August? That’s a trick question, by the way.

Change of Plans: We’re Going Here Instead

By Lewie Procter on May 10th, 2011.

As a hasty follow up to ill hatched plans of last week, we’ve relocated the Manchester RPS Social Club meet to Kyoto Lounge. Kyoto Lounge has a couple of advantages over Font Bar, number one being that they pick up their phone so I was actually able to book it. Number two is that they are a Gaming Bar. RPS Social Club: Up North, May 28th

By Lewie Procter on May 2nd, 2011.

Are games beer?

UPDATE: This has now relocated to Kyoto Bar, details here.

I once heard that a man can lose himself in London. Lose himself. I was considering jumping on a train to that there capital city for the next London based RPS Social Club meeting, but abject fear of the tube (TRAINS UNDER THE GROUND?!?!) and the fact that I don’t own a bowler hat are preventing me from going. So, I thought, why not get the Social Club to come to me? Read on for details of the first Manchester based RPS Social Club Meet. Read the rest of this entry »

RPS Social Club Meeting April 16th, May 28th

By Quintin Smith on April 6th, 2011.

its funny because guinness has iron in it

Last month’s RPS social club meet-up (which I told you guys about here) in London was a thing of beauty. Good people. Laughter. Somebody buying me a pint of Guinness so that I would have some iron.

Almost as excitingly, the venue – the Blue Posts pub – kicked ass, so it’s my great pleasure to confirm that we’ve got it booked from 8pm for the evenings of April 16th and May 28th, which are the dates of the next two Social Clubs (once again organised by stellar RPS reader Siri HommelsgĂ„rd). Ladies and gents, get those dates in your diaries! And since it’s my understanding that at the last Social Club people were present and drinking by the mid afternoon, feel free to show up a little earlier. For my part, I’ll be pressuring Kieron to come along too now that he’s back from his honeymoon, and maybe one of the others will make the precarious climb down from Castle Shotgun. As for me, I’ll see you guys there!

Alestorm: RPS Social Club Meets March 19th

By Quintin Smith on March 10th, 2011.

Valhalla awaits!

Calendars and alka seltzer at the ready, ladies and gents! And, uh, axes, apparently! The details of the second ever RPS social club have been fixed, and they are as follows: March 19th at The Blue Posts pub in London. More details, an amazing promotional poster and some similarly amazing name tags await on our forums. After the jump I’ll do my best to persuade you to come, but up here I’d just like to give thanks to noble RPS reader Siri for making this all happen. Siri! You are one classy lady, and the energy you’re putting into this can only strengthen the already-mighty RPS community. Now, onwards!
