Rückblende

By Jim Rossignol on December 5th, 2007.

So I was going to post about Speedball 2 being released on Steam, but instead I played Stalker for a couple of hours and then browsed some blogs. Yeah, it’s tough. Anyway, thanks to Indygamer I discovered that one of the most visually interesting IGF entrants (although not one of the shortlisted few), Rückblende, now has a new mirror so you can download and see what the fuss is about. It’s a portly 593mb, or 42.3 Peggles.

As it turns out, the fuss is about a peculiar, dreamlike quasi-adventure/interactive animation with beautiful modeled stills providing a backdrop for hand-drawn visuals. I’m not quite sure what’s going on, but that doesn’t seem to matter. It’s a wonderful thing, with an exquisite soundtrack.
