Get A Room: Going Down With Love Hotel

By Cara Ellison on July 30th, 2013.

shaking shack
One thing I learned whilst living in Japan was that there is no love without love hotels. Japanese houses are small, thin as plywood, and property prices are so huge that you often won’t leave home until you’re married with a well-paying job. So… In a society where it’s not even socially acceptable to kiss in public, where can you do all your clam dippin’, begattin’ and sock adjustin’? You certainly don’t want to do it in your parents’ house with them right next to the sliding doors. Well, the answer is… you gotta make a trip to a love hotel. 3 Silly Hats have made kink-friendly SimTower-esque simulation game Love Hotel, where you’re a love hotel manager and you have to provide a place for every kind of couple to rut like gymnastic fuckbunnies. And it’s actually flippin’ amazing. I played it all day. Solo. Read the rest of this entry »

Dragon Age Writer On Characters’ Bisexuality

By John Walker on March 25th, 2011.

OOOOH! THEY'RE TOTALLY GONNA DO IT!

A peculiar accusation was made against Dragon Age II on the BioWare forums, in which a user accused the game of not properly catering for the straight male gamer. Honestly, I’d launched into writing this with the intention of factually reporting it, but just typing those words has made me want to start throwing chairs. What? Good grief, even if that were true, which it so spectacularly isn’t, wouldn’t it… but… good grief. Amazingly, one of BioWare’s writers, David Gaider, gave a calm, level-headed response where I would have said capital swears. He makes some interesting comments, as EG point out.

Dungeon Siege 3 Redresses Huge Imbalance

By Quintin Smith on March 24th, 2011.

It'll turn out that that's a walking stick and I'll have been sooo insensitive

That’s right! Because the latest trailer for Dungeon Siege 3 introduces both a sexy lady and guns to the upcoming action RPG in a single playable character, and about time too. I for one have had it with the video game industry neglecting the public’s palpable hunger for both firearms and optimistic takes on the female form. The games industry will never know the loss they suffered when development of my own game, Boobgun, was ended due to financial inconsistencies, but this is at least a step in the right direction. You can watch the trailer right after the jump, and thanks to VG247 for the tipoff. No, really, VG247. I mean it. Thanks.

Dragon Age II Is Mature

By John Walker on February 7th, 2011.

You beautiful creature.

And for once, that appears to be an accurate use of the word. “Mature” in a game rating tends to mean anything but. But once again BioWare are offering sexual freedom as one of the many ways you’re free to define your experience of Dragon Age II. It means if you want to roleplay a gay character, you can.

RPS In Second Life: An Orgasmic Bellowing

By Quintin Smith on February 1st, 2010.

SEX!
Pay any attention to that irreverent, smiling spectre we call technology journalism and you’ll probably know two things about Second Life. ONE: That it’s very successful, and the millions of dollars it rakes in are shared with its dashing player entrepreneurs. TWO: That it’s full of sex. You’ll know this from the chocolate-box of articles ranging from I Was A Prostitute In Second Life to I Hired A Prostitute In Second Life to I Was Raped In Second Life to I Was A Rapist In Second Life. Wait, maybe not that last one. Wow. Must remember to pitch that to The Escapist.

Thing is, these two headlines have a habit of existing independently from one another. What I feel no-one’s talking about is that if Second Life is even partially successful because of the sexual freedom it offers, that raises a fat question about the games industry as a whole. If you’ll pardon the euphemism, I think there’s a huge, important point this game is making, and it’s waving it in our direction. Come over here and look at this, will you? [Needless to say, it's NSFW from this point.]

“Sex If You Win, Sex If You Lose”

By Jim Rossignol on March 19th, 2008.

Those seem like reasonable odds, if sadly unrealistic. Anyway, the definitely not-safe-for-office-environs sex-game publisher G-Collections [careful, readers!], has announced that its latest 3D sex adventure on PC, Lightning Warrior Raidy, has gone gold. In fact it seems that Raidy has been presumed to be so popular with G-Collections fans that a sequel has already been announced, even before the first game has gone on sale. Nothing like a dead cert, eh? G-Collections explain the appeal of their cartoon molestations:

With a classic combat feel in the tradition of the finest computer based RPGs, the player navigates the maze-like tower, fighting hordes of sexy monster women and gathering potions, weapons and armor to defeat the tower’s twisted master. With the “sex if you win, sex if you lose” game system, Raidy is able to turn the twisted fetishes of the boss monsters against them if she defeats them in combat, or succumb to their wiles if she loses.

Yeah, you know the system. It’s where you get XP (seXP! sorry) even if you fail the quest. All very familiar RPG stuff. Jolly good, and really in the tradition of the finest computer-based RPGs. Lord British would be proud.
