Sniper’s CryEngine Sequel Sighted

By Jim Rossignol on January 11th, 2011.

City Interactive announced last month that they are now working on four FPS games, and that CryEngine 3 had been licensed for (at least some of) them. One of those has now been confirmed as the sequel to Sniper: Ghost Warrior (which everyone told me to avoid, but I guess must have sold okay to be getting a sequel), as confirmed by this news story on Eurogamer.se, which is teasing a full interview with City Interactive’s chief producer Michal Sroczynski. No other details yet, but I suspect it’s going to involve shooting people in the head. Any other predictions, crosshair fans?

Scope It Out: Sniper: Ghost Warrior Demo

By Kieron Gillen on June 17th, 2010.

That's a very aggressive looking bush by those barrels.

Interesting one this. I can only presume it’s a leak of the demo, because it’s in none of the usual sites, and mainly being distributed by torrents. Still, you can get a direct download of Sniper: Ghost Warrior’s demo via TechPoweredUp, so I’m going to blog it. It’s nearly a gig and a half though. The game promises to be the most realistic sniper experience ever – though Alec, sitting in his watchtower, shooting at pigeons and/or poor people would probably disagree – and runs off the Chrome 4 engine which you may know from Call of Juarez: Bound In Blood. Some demo footage follows and there’s more info on the site

Sniper, Sniper, Er, Trailering Bright… Sorry.

By Jim Rossignol on June 9th, 2010.

Blue spotted that there’s a new trailer out for City Interactive’s long-distance-death themed shooter (with occasional knives) Sniper: Ghost Warrior, and it’s really pretty neat. (And really below the click). The trailer shows that the different difficulty settings will mean, how sniper finds his way around the level, hapless soldiermen under crosshairs, and how the stealth mode works. I’m not expecting this one to be a classic, but it might just be an okayic.

Sniper: Ghost Warrior Features Jungle

By Jim Rossignol on April 6th, 2010.

The tropical environment, not the music. The music, in fact, is that BA-DA-DA BA-DA-DA orchestral stuff that means ACTION is about to occur. The Sniper: Ghost Warrior trailer claims that the footage is created using the game engine, but the trailer is nevertheless FMV, presumably showing how the game is meant to be understood. You’re a sniper, you shoot people from far away. There’s a chance it will be awemazing, I suppose, depending on the craft of the long-distance shooty, but it’s being developed by City Interactive, who don’t have the very best track record with such things. Anyway, it’s looking superficially fancy, so go take a peek.

Spooks: Sniper Ghost Warrior Announced

By John Walker on March 31st, 2010.

The trees are alive!

There are occasions where you can only desperately hope that a game’s name is literal. It’s a bit of a shame that’s not the case for the recently announced Sniper Ghost Warrior, which rather than being about playing a spectral sniper, who presumably uses his invisibility to excellent effect when using poltergeist skills to assassinate targets, is in fact about being an elite sniper carrying out missions in the fictitious South American island, Isla Trueno. In fact, it’s so contrary to my supernatural assumptions that City Interactive‘s game is focusing on creating something as realistic as possible.
