A Dance With Dates: Stronghold 3 Changes

By Alec Meer on July 12th, 2011.

Wow, captions about castles are really hard

Promising build’n'bash’n'badger game Stronghold 3 has moved first from a Spring then to a Summer and then September release date and now to a nebulous ‘Autumn’ release date – which is bad news for anyone who, like me, is currently reading A Dance With Dragons and was hoping for a bit of brutal castle sieging afterwards. However, the change in date brings with it a shiny new trailer, and news that it bears a whole new publisher.

The Monday Melee: Two Worlds II Trailer

By Quintin Smith on October 25th, 2010.

Wearing full armour at home is the old wearing sunglasses indoors.

Last we saw of Two Worlds II, developers Southpeak were cheerily mocking the first game in a series of videos. Evidently with the game’s Jan 2011 release date coming up, the time for such jokes is OVER.

The trailer below shows a FEROCIOUS BATTLE between HUMANS (I think?) and NOT-ORCS. The bloody fight takes place at the coast next to OSWAROTH, a city next to the DRA’KAR DESERT. There is an AXE. There is PAIN. There is a BIRD, who may or may not be the NARRATOR. Have you had breakfast yet? Did you sleep well? Because if not, you might just LOSE CONTROL and POP A BONER.

Strong Like Ox: Stronghold 3

By Jim Rossignol on August 16th, 2010.

Financial squabbles between Southpeak Interactive and CDV had made some people wonder what would happen to the games being produced by the corporate couple, and somehow we missed the confirmation last week that Stronghold 3 is unaffected, and will still hit its 2011 release slot. Eurogamer have the news, and some affirmation by Southpeak’s CEO that they have confidence in the title. And they should have confidence, because it’s one of Germany’s biggest selling strategy titles and as such is likely to sell half a squajillion copies. No major details on the game yet, but a smattering of screens show a new 3D engine, which should make for spangly castle-construction when the game arrives next year.

The Morning Silly: Two Worlds II Therapy

By John Walker on August 5th, 2010.

Cheer up fellows, this one might not be as rubbish.

Last week Southpeak began a rather unique campaign for their forthcoming Two Worlds II. A series of ads mocking Two Worlds. Starring disgruntled henchman Sordahon, the ads poke fun at the weaknesses of the first game. A third part is out, this time seeing Sordahon at the therapist office.

Two Worlds II Mocks Two Worlds

By John Walker on July 25th, 2010.

Did you play Two Worlds? I tried for a bit. It was rubbish, wasn’t it? Well, interestingly enough, according to Destructoid Polish developers Reality Pump think so too. And they’re saying so in some videos that not only promote the sequel, Two Worlds II, but that mock the first one. Which is a bold choice. If they’re really from Southpeak, and not Destructoid punking them.

Section 8: Jumping Dudes Fight Trailer

By Jim Rossignol on July 6th, 2009.

Robots, jetpacks, tanks booted out the back of dropships, lots of firepower and some extreme mechanised jumping: Section 8‘s most recent trailer has all the elements that makes an wizened PC gamer sit back in his chair, run a hand across his beard and say: “hmm, I remember Tribes.” Anyway, for those of us who haven’t been able to get on the beta, the trailer, courtesy of Destructoid, is below.

Raven Squad: All-Guns Blazing Squad

By Kieron Gillen on July 5th, 2008.

Strategy or tactics? It's so hard to tell with these modern hair-cuts

Okay. This is me suspecting I know what interests our readers more than traditional wisdom would dictate. You see, if you look beneath the cut, you’ll find lots of screenshots of men with guns blowing stuff up in the Jungle. However, I actually think people will be far more excited in seeing this overhead tacticsmap, because it shows that we’re not just in the realms of the standard Honour Call of Crysis Duty game, but something a little more singular.

Or we hope so, anyway. Don’t let us down, Raven Squad. We’re being nice here.
