Humble Rumbles Anew: PWYW Torchlight, Vessel, SPAZ

By Alec Meer on September 18th, 2012.

mmm, 2009 vintage spiders

Somehow bearing the numeral ’6′ after it, despite there having been at least 40,000 Humble Bundles by this point, the latest in the wildly successful series of pay-what-you-want indie grab-bags is go right now. Torchlight is the headliner, which is some funny timin’ what with the sequel being pretty darn close now, and it has sterling support from Rochard, Space Pirates And Zombies (aka SPAZ), Vessel and Shatter. Pay more than the average – which currently sits at around $5 – and you’ll get Dustforce too.

Bounty Hunters, Meet Space Pirates And Zombies

By Adam Smith on March 20th, 2012.

You might think that having more content crammed into its galaxies would make Space Pirates and Zombies more expensive but the addition of the free and bulky Bounty Hunters expansion pack has seen the game go on sale and not just a tiny sale. It’s £1.74 on Steam for two more hours, which is a 75% reduction. It’s available at plenty of other places as well but Steam is the only one that has such a sizable discount. More details on what the expansion includes below.

Space Pirates & Zombies Expands For Naught

By Craig Pearson on March 9th, 2012.

Developed by Orlando Bloom
If you own top-down Freelancer-esque (ish) game Space Pirates and Zombies and were about to carve an ice-statue that signifies your inner turmoil at the lack of the game’s Bounty Hunter faction… stop! Put down the chainsaw and step away from your copy of Ice Sculpting the Modern Way. You’d have never have forgiven yourself and the art world would have mocked you mercilessly if they knew you’d started that without checking RPS, because I’m about to tell you about the free SP&Z’s Bounty Hunter expansion pack. Save that ice swan for some other internal strife.

Space Pirates And Zombies Out, V1.0 Demo

By Jim Rossignol on August 16th, 2011.

The 2D space shooter with RPG bits, Space Pirates And Zombies, has now emerged from its beta, blinking into the atomic light of day. You might recall that perfidious Mr Smith wrote about the game rather favourably, but you don’t have to take his words as representative because there’s also a v1.0 demo for you to play. That is all.

Impressions: Space Pirates And Zombies

By Quintin Smith on May 27th, 2011.

LASER! LASER!

I’m happy to say that space shooter S.P.A.Z. (the official abbreviation, not mine) encourages the oldest form of games journalism procrastination. I meant to start writing this three hours ago, but instead chose refresh myself and play the game for “just another few minutes”. If you’re a fan of the space shooter genre (top-down, high-tension battles with plenty of RPG persistency), there’s your capsule review. The game’s currently in a beta that you can access just by pre-ordering for £9, a la Minecraft. But I’d be remiss if I didn’t write a little more, because it wasn’t guilt that finally stopped me playing. It was the latest in a long series of ragequits.

Spotlight On Biscuit – S.P.A.Z.

By Quintin Smith on May 21st, 2011.

Jim wrote a musical titled 'Laser! Laser!' back in the day. He doesn't like to talk about it.

This week’s Spotlight on Biscuit sees UK games commenter Total Biscuit asking WTF is Space Pirates and Zombies, a commendably eccentric top-down action RPG in space type thing. If what you see takes your fancy, you can pick up a demo of S.P.A.Z. or pre-order for beta access over on the game’s official site. Speaking of fancies, when was the last time any of you lot had a French Fancy?
